Cornwell Takes Aim At Jim Brown

After we posted last night a blurb regarding Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown’s contention that marijuana was involved in the events leading to Browns receiver Donte’ Stallworth’s guilty plea for DUI manslaughter, we contacted Stallworth’s lawyer, David Cornwell, for a response. Here’s what Cornwell -- who addressed on Friday the criticism regarding Stallworth’s 30-day sentence -- had to say: “I have already said that we will address these matters privately and candidly with Commissioner Goodell. Jim Brown, with his self-serving assertions of relevance and street ‘cred,’ and with his demonstrably inaccurate generalizations, just revealed his true colors. Donte’s loving family is intimately involved in his life and they have been an invaluable pillar of support throughout this tragic ordeal.” On one hand, Cornwell didn’t deny the contention that marijuana was involved. On the other hand, Cornwell declined to comment on the situation. So Brown’s contention remains unconfirmed. But one thing is clear. Cornwell doesn’t appreciate Brown’s remarks. And Stallworth presumably doesn’t, either.
