Griese Making Post-Football Plans

With veteran quarterback Brian Griese not attending a mandatory minicamp in Tampa and with the Buccaneers seemingly content to keep him on ice unless and until one or more of their 24 other quarterbacks get hurt, we’re hearing that Griese is considering retirement. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Griese has begun the process of seriously exploring post-football career opportunities. For this year, not 2010 or beyond. Griese, drafted by the Broncos in 1998 after leading Michigan to a national title, has played for the Dolphins and Bears, too. His current stint with Tampa is his second -- he played there in 2004 and 2005 as well. In eleven NFL seasons, Griese has completed 62.7 percent of his passes, for 19,440 yards. He has thrown 119 touchdown passes and 99 interceptions. Though those numbers won’t get him into Canton without paying the admission fee, Griese has something that several Hall of Fame quarterbacks don’t. As a rookie in Denver, Griese won a Super Bowl ring. How do you feel about that, Dan?
