Jason Campbell Taking Charge In D.C.

With the Redskins chasing Jay Cutler and then Mark Sanchez earlier this year, incumbent starting quarterback Jason Campbell has, by all appearances, become more determined than ever to succeed. We’re told that Campbell has been taking an active role in getting his teammates to attend voluntary offseason workouts, badgering guys who didn’t show up to attend and participate. There’s also a feeling that Campbell and coach Jim Zorn have developed a strong bond, given that both men’s futures with the Redskins will be determined in large part by their ability to succeed this year. In our view, anything less than a playoff berth and an appearance in the divisional round or better will result in Campbell leaving via free agency, and Zorn leaving via termination. And if Zorn goes, look for the Redskins to make a serious run at one of the two Mikes who’ll be on the market come January -- Mike Shanahan and Mike Holmgren.
