49ers Linebacker Took A Paycut

In one of the surest ways to ensure job security in the NFL, San Francisco 49ers veteran linebacker Jeff Ulbrich accepted a pay cut. According to Matt Maiocco of the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat, Ulbrich’s originally scheduled base salary of $2.23 million for 2009 is now down to $950,000 as he enters the final year of his contract. According to NFL Players Association records, the former third-round draft pick from Hawaii was paid $1.875 million in base salary last year, $1.525 million in 2008 and $1.325 million in 2006. Ulbrich, 32, started just five games over the past two seasons. With the 49ers for nine seasons, Ulbrich has recorded 486 career tackles, 5 1/2 sacks and two interceptions.
