Rodney Harrison To Replace Bettis At NBC?

Veteran safety Rodney Harrison, a fixture in San Diego without a Super Bowl ring who became a fixture in New England with two of them, is unsigned and still undecided about his future. (Since he doesn’t play quarterback, there’s slightly less interest in his long-term plans.) John Tomase of the Boston Herald (sorry, Patriots fans) mentions that Harrison has a solid alternative to playing football -- television. Tomase writes that Harrison “has drawn interest” from the networks. He did a solid job with NBC during its Super Bowl coverage, and though some think that the lineup for the Football Night In America pregame is still stretching the seams like the seat of Shaun Rogers sweatpants, Cris Collinsworth has moved to the broadcast booth, Matt Millen has opted to join ESPN, and Neil Best of Newsday recently reported that Jerome Bettis likely won’t be back for a fourth season. So Harrison could join NBC, if NBC chooses to replace Bettis. Or Harrison could play for the Patriots. Or the Falcons. Or maybe he’ll be joining Brad Childress, Brett Favre, and Dick Cheney at the infamous “undisclosed location.”
