TUESDAY MORNING ONE-LINERS

Bills WR/PR Roscoe Parrish practiced for the first time since surgery to repair ligament damage in his right thumb three weeks ago. The Dolphins’ defense is giving up too many long completions. Patriots coach Bill Belichick is defending his decision to keep the team in California for a week between road games. [Editor’s note: Hey, it worked out well for the Cardinals.] The Jets’ defense has improved significantly against the run. Cowboys WR Patrick Crayton calls QB Brad Johnson “Checkdown Johnson.” If the Eagles ever get everyone healthy, they might have too many offensive weapons. Says Redskins CB Leigh Torrence of giving up a crucial big play Sunday, “I’ve been thinking about it pretty much nonstop since. . . . That’s kind of the life you live out there on the corner.” Ravens G Marshal Yanda is out for the season with a knee injury. Thousands of Bengals tickets are available for below face value, even though technically every Bengals home game is considered a sellout for the rest of the year. NT Casey Hampton and K Jeff Reed were among the Steelers who didn’t practice Monday. Former Bears K Kevin Butler says the decision to squib kick late in Sunday’s game was a bad one. Lions S Gerald Alexander is out for the season with a neck injury. The Packers don’t seem too concerned about QB Aaron Rodgers exposing himself to more hits. Hard hits are causing fumbles for Vikings RB Adrian Peterson. [Editor’s note: Unlike most fumbles, when the guy just drops the ball because he notices it’s brown and he thinks for a minute that he’s actually carrying a big turd.] Titans DE Jevon Kearse is getting more playing time than expected. Jaguars WR Mike Walker was admitted to a hospital Saturday to begin treatment for an infection in his right knee. Texans CB Dunta Robinson will be back on the practice field Wednesday. Colts coach Tony Dungy says the team still has work to do after a big win over the Ravens. Falcons QB Matt Ryan says he’s just trying to stay consistent. The Panthers may not be as bad or as good as people think. Injured Saints TE Jeremy Shockey is staying active on the sideline. Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden isn’t happy about a 15-yard penalty the Bucs got because a player did a cartwheel. The Broncos have to cut down on fumbles. Other players on the Chiefs say they understand why TE Tony Gonzalez would want to be traded. Says Raiders coach Tom Cable of QB JaMarcus Russell, “We really found out a lot about where he is. And it’s obvious he’s still in a stage of development. It’s obvious maybe he can’t handle that much.” Says Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson, “We need to run the ball better. We’re not very good at running the ball.” Rams RB Brian Leonard is out for the season with a shoulder injury. Says Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt of calling for an onside kick Sunday, “Some people said it was a needless gamble. I don’t consider it a gamble. Second of all, I didn’t consider it needless.” Coach Mike Nolan says he’s not happy about the 49ers’ losing streak but is glad they haven’t been blown out. Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren is staying optimistic.
