Jets Perusing Wide Receiver Class

If pre-draft official visits mean anything, and that’s debatable considering many NFL teams use the meetings for reasons other than having genuine interest in a prospect, we could possibly surmise that the New York Jets are seriously considering drafting a wide receiver. According to Rich Cimini of the New York Daily News, the Jets have hosted five wide receivers at their training facility, including: North Carolina’s Hakeem Nicks, Florida’s Percy Harvin and Louis Murphy, Missouri’s Jeremy Maclin and Rutgers’ Kenny Britt. NFL teams are allotted up to 30 pre-draft visits. The Jets have met with several players, including a bevy of projected first-round prospects. That list reportedly includes: University of Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford and running back Knowshon Moreno, Alabama offensive tackle Andre Smith, Boston College defensive tackle B.J. Raji, Mississippi defensive tackle Peria Jerry, University of Connecticut cornerback Darius Butler, Ohio State defensive back Malcolm Jenkins and Illinois cornerback Vontae Davis.
