Rumors Fly Of Scouting Combine Positive Drug Tests

Although the NFL teams have yet to receive the list of players who tested positive for substances of abuse and/or banned substances at last month’s Scouting Combine, rumors already are circulating as to players who tested positive. Specifically, we have heard the names of two potential first-rounders. For obvious legal reasons, we won’t be disclosing the names until official confirmation is obtained. One league source told us that there’s simply no way to know at this point whether the rumors are accurate. “I have a hard time believing the information could have gotten out,” the source said. “It’s like stealing the Mona Lisa. I don’t know if it’s true or not.” The source points out that the two players who are rumored to have tested positive are believed to have tested positive at the college ranks. So it could be that rumors of past positive tests have been twisted into rumors of positives test at the Combine. Because every player attending the Combine knows (or should know) that he’ll be tested in Indy, anyone who tests positive is either ridiculously stupid, or he has a real problem.
