CHARLOTTE PROSTITUTION RING COULD ENSNARE AT LEAST ONE PANTHERS PLAYER

Several years ago, a handful of Panthers players were implicated in the purchase of steroids after a season that culminated in a Super Bowl appearance. So we suppose it’s fitting that, after three years of underachievement, a member of the team could eventually be tied to off-field activities that do nothing to enhance on-field performance. An investigation into the now-defunct HushHush call-girl ring has resulted in the arrest of two prominent Charlotte-area businessmen, and the enterprise allegedly generated $3 million over seven years by catering to “some of the city’s civic and business elite.” We’re told that more names of alleged customers will be released soon, and that the list could include at least one member of the Panthers. So far, three HushHush clients have pleaded guilty to charges of soliciting prostitution. Per the Charlotte Observer, authorities videotaped men meeting with HushHush prostitutes. Also, telephone wiretaps recorded clients arranging encounters with Sallie Saxon, who ran the operation. Saxon and her husband have pleaded guilty to federal crimes, and have been senteced to prison. For the clients, the potential penalty is up to 60 days in prison. And permanent disqualification from becoming the governor of New York.
