REPORT: ZYGMUNT OUT IN ST. LOUIS

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that Rams President/G.M. Jay Zygmunt will be fired by Tuesday. This doesn’t necessarily mean that the Rams will be added to the list of teams searching for a new General Manager; in St. Louis, one of the problems of late has been an overabundance of chefs. The team’s staff directory identifies a President (John Shaw), a President/Football Operations/General Manager (Zygmunt), an Executive Vice President/General Counsel (Bob Wallace), an Executive Vice President/Player Personnel (Billy Devaney), a Director/Football Operations (Samir Suleiman), a Vice President/Player Personnel (Tony Softli), and a Director/Player Personnel (Lawrence McCutcheon). Our guess is that Devaney will be named G.M. without a formal or informal search for a new one. It simply makes no sense for the team to continue to maintain as many employees as NBC’s Football Night in America, especially during an economic downturn.
