MOULDS CLEARED OF ASSAULT CHARGES

Over the weekend, reports surfaced that former Bills receiver Eric Moulds had slugged a guy who was trying to shake Moulds’ hand and/or tell Moulds how great of a player he was. Moulds has since been cleared. “Detectives believe it appears to be a case of mistaken identity,” Buffalo police spokesman Michael DeGeorge said, according to the Buffalo News. Police determined that Moulds was present at the scene of the incident, but not involved in the fight. OK, fine. So how was there a case of mistaken identity? Did the victim hear that Eric Moulds was nearby and then thought that the guy who hit him was Eric Moulds but it was really someone else? And if it wasn’t Moulds, then someone else should be arrested for breaking the guy’s tooth, right? Until someone else is charged with assault, we’ll keep this story in the “things that smell funny to us” file, right next to that bottle of 17-year-old Liquid Paper.
