Twenty-five years after the Vikings were burned in the Metrodome by Tony Dorsett of the Cowboys for a 99-yard run, the home team partially exorcised that demon with a 99-yard pass play from Gus Frerotte to Bernard Berrian.
The score came on the first play after the Vikings stuffed the Bears at the goal line on fourth down.
Per NBC, it’s the 11th 99-yard touchdown pass in NFL history.
There’s been only one 99-yard run — and the Cowboys did it with only ten men on the field.
Vikes lead, 10-7.

How old are you readers Florio? Not only have I never heard of Tony Dorsett, I was also a few years off from birth.
I would have preferred a Seinfeld reference, or something about Plax shooting himself in the leg. I feel like that will be funny, just like Seinfeld, for years to come.

If you’re reading this and you’ve never heard of Tony Dorsett, I suggest you get off the internet and try reading a book once in a while.
Things happened before you were born and that don’t involve you.

Why wasn’t there a penalty flag thrown on that play? When the replay was shown, there clearly was @ least 2 players from the bench on the field & a coach from the Vikings. If your going to call the refs out for the late hit on Ferrotte, then call them out for blowing this call too!!!

PARavensJeff,
Seriously? I think Madden/Michaels called out the refs because the Vikings have been getting penalties and fines for late QB hits. I personally think the Gus thing tonight was just an accident. No flag/penalty needed.

ZOMG!! Did you see all dem Bears walking off the field without “helmuts” with 11 seconds and counting?
I bet the entire Bears offense will be suspended for that crap.
Bunch of cheap shot artists.

PARavensJeff:
Let me get this straight. A late hit comes an eternity after the play. The coach is incensed, and you’re bitching about him being 2 yards on the field.
Get a grip.

Yup…I was right.
The Bears are not going to be allowed to finish the game.
They are all suspended for taking off their “helmuts” with the game in motion.
There was 11 seconds on the clock and counting…and they all took off their “helmuts” to head to the locker room.
Jared Allen is also going to be suspended for that late hit on Frerrotten.
Jared Allen shot Plax.

Dorsett? Yawn. Don’t care. Especially about QB’s 25 years ago. And books I read aren’t about football.

sporkdevil - Dorsett was a running back idiot.
The best 99 yard play was Jaws to Mike Quick to end an overtime game against the Falcons

My god sporkdevil, please never ever leave a comment on this site I love to read every again. I dont know how old you are but I was barely 1 when Tony D broke that record setting run(run means more than likely it was a RB). Obviously I didn’t see it or remember it for that matter but if you know anything about football you know who tony Dorsett is. Go watch sienfeld but not football please and read that harry potter book over again. Just leave us real football fans alone.
The vikings D really turned the game around with the goal line stop. Pretty much a 14 pt swing as the ears should have punched that in. Then instead get a 99 yd bomb dropped on em. The game went entirely south from then on out with All day A.P. just brutally pounding the ball down the field. They need to leave him in when big situations come up more often. Please pass A.P. the ball more often in the flat let him do the work. Have to reward a guy that works the ball down the field then give it to taylor for paydirt. (I HATE THAT)

Jim Brown retired from the NFL before I was born, yet I know who he is. I’m a Vikings fan and anyone who doesn’t know who Tony Dorsett is should be banned from posting here. Just because a great player played before you were born doesn’t give you an excuse to not know who he is. Even most casual football fans know who Tony Dorsett is.

Except for Ed Reed’s 108 yard pick that went for a TD in Baltimore.

108 yard INT return is not as long as a 109 yard missed FG return.
