NBC’s Andrea Kremer reports that Vikings coach Brad Childress was “hot” regarding a non-call on a first-half late hit against Minnesota quarterback Gus Frerotte.
“We’ve been hit by a bunch of them,” Childress told Kremer regarding roughing-the-passer calls. “Why don’t they call the darn penalty on someone else?”
With the league cracking down on public criticism of officials in a season during which the officials have given players and coaches plenty of calls to criticize, Childress might be getting an opportunity to make an involuntary holiday donation to the charities of the NFL’s choice.

maybe instead of cracking down on the criticism of the refs, they should cut down on the amount the refs give people to criticize

He’s not going to be fined. There is no “proof” that he said it. Just some “sideline babe’s” word that he said it. It wasn’t on camera.

Bash Chilly if you want. The Vikes are number #1 in the division now. He shouldn’t be fined because it was a late it. I hate this fact, but it’s a fact. The NFL has called the most bogus calls against the vikes (which you have posted numerous times Mike) and they don’t get a call? Come on! Gus was hit, very late, I think it was accidental, but Marshall Goodell doesn’t see it that way.
I am just waiting for Goodell to f the Vikes by suspending the Williams. Only a matter of time. If that happens, and the Vikes don’t make the playoffs, then Goodell can kiss his fans in Minny goodbye.

The scuttlebut is the Williams’ are gonna strike back (if suspended) with an injunction against the NFL claiming that at least 2 people at the NFL HQ had knowledge that Starcaps was tainted - doesn’t seem like a flimsy excuse now does it Florio?

He’s right, not about the calls on his team, but about the roughing the passer calls being called in league. I have seen a lot of b.s. roughing penalties, but that one was pretty obvious and was not called. Whether or not it was played up, there was a solid hit there that should not have happened. Why do the refs suck so bad this year?

Childress = hypocrite
Childress is a whiner.
This Childress guy has never cracked down on any player for breaking rules. Look at his non action last year when multiple vikings were caught with illegal drugs, a locker room brawl, and players were arrested for deviant sexual acts.
Childress lack of leadership is stunning for a coach and person with alleged authority.

The Queens are the beneficiaries of more phantom PI calls, including the phantom “intentional grounding” against Aaron Rodgers than any team in the league.
For Queens fans to be bitching about the officials is beyond a joke. Not that the franchise itself is anything but a joke.
Everyone knows that the league wants the Queens to stay in Minny, so they get a little help from their friends.
Frerotte wouldn’t even make pro wrestling with that flop. Please.

Wow, if that is enough to get fined then that is sad….
Does the NFL need money, are the hyper sensitive fines to build up some more cash flow or something?
How about they take some steps to do something in the future to prevent what has been an embarassing year for NFL officiating.

The Vikings are the most penalized team in the NFL. If the league wanted to “help” them…wouldn’t they get less penalties?
Just like the pcakers, you FAIL.

Packer fans complaining about the officiating is hilarious. Their team has gotten every big call in every big situation for the last 15-20 years, and now that it isn’t happening for them any more, they just don’t know how to handle having their games called like they’re just any ol’ NFL team.
They also simply can’t handle the fact that they’ve run their mouths all year about how their team is so much better, so much more talented, and so much better coached than the Minnesota Vikings, yet with 4 weeks left to go in the season, the Packers sit two games behind Minnesota in the standings.
And had Jared Allen hit Kyle Orton the same way that Ogunleye hit Frerotte last night, there would have been no fewer than four flags hitting the field at once. Fortunately, Jared got this three sacks last night in a perfectly legal manner. Granted, Green Bay fans will find a way to whine about those, too. Why? Because they’re Packer fans. . .whining is what they do.
Maybe. . .just maybe. . .Packer fans should worry more about their allegedly great football team and their allegedly great defense that’s given up 86 points over the last two weeks than they do about the Minnesota Vikings.
