If the Chicago Bears are going to return to the postseason in 2008, they’ll have to make it happen without starting cornerback Nathan Vasher.
On Saturday, the Bears placed Vasher on injured reserve. The team announced the move via e-mail several minutes ago.
Vasher has a broken hand. Recently, coach Lovie Smith wouldn’t comment on whether the injury would end Vasher’s season.
To fill the spot created by the move, the Bears promoted fullback Jason Davis from the practice squad to the active roster.

Corey Graham is better anyway. Vasher won’t be with the bears next year. Trade or release…

This game could be ugly. I hope it isn’t but we have a trend in the NFC North.
I don’t like to see anyone hurt. This year the linebacking core for the NFC North has really suffered injuries. Greenbay, Minnesota and Chicago all suffered losses to their linebackers and cornerbacks.
Couple that with bad decisions from everyone’s management and we have one of the worst season the NFC North has had in years.
Childress and the Vikes would have won the dunce cap award if Greenbay didn’t trade Farve. No matter what Greenbay does this year, this will be the year of Greenbay’s “Hershal Walker” trade.
The Brett Favre experiment that started in August has now produced the league’s second-highest scoring team (323 points) and the Jets are on pace to shatter their franchise record of 419 points, set in 1968.
The last time the Jets played this well Joe Namath was quarterbacking in his prime.
It will take years for the Packers to get over this.
Two years from now NFL Films will have a short title “Greenbay Traded Who?”
Jimmie Smith, I feel your pain. Get counseling before it’s too late.
