The Eagles will most likely face the Cardinals on Thursday night without starting cornerback Asante Samuel or backup running back Correll Buckhalter.
Both are listed as doubtful; Samuel has a neck injury and Buckhalter has a knee injury.
Starting running back Brian Westbrook is questionable, due to lingering knee and ankle problems.
Several other players are listed as probable on the team’s official injury report; offensive lineman Shawn Andrews will miss yet another game due to a back injury.

Lito will get the start against two of the best receivers in the league. Perfect chance to prove himself.

Of all weeks this season for Asante Samuel to not be playing, it’s against the only other team in the NFL that might rely more heavily on the pass than the Eagles. Oh and Buck, great. We get to see Lorenzo Booker get a few carries. You could find a guy in the stands that could run for more yards than that bum.

And now Philly fans will find out first hand exactly why the Cards didn’t trade Anquan for Lito.
Lito is going to get debacled by Q showing why the Cards are a better run organization at this point in time (and that is really saying something).

Guys, I hate to say this but Lito sticks. He is a shell of his former self and is too worried about being slighted to play good. I cannot honestly say that I would rather see him out there then J. Hanson. However, I HOPE that he uses this opportunity and plays well. I think next year is the year that Lito and Asante will start at CB and Sheldon will start at FS. Dawk will be gone and Q will play SS. Another DB will probably be drafted high.
I would not let Lito go just cuase he has been crying like a b!tch. Look how it worked out with TO.
I say that the Eagles cut Greg Lewis today and bring in Tony Hunt.

I hate to say it, but Buck not playing isn’t going to affect much of anything. Andy gives him the ball maybe 2-3 times per game, which is ashame because he could be much more of an asset to the team if given the chance. Booker hasn’t done squat this season and won’t get touches in this game either. Andy will punish Westbrook’s body more this game as he attempts to show he is willing to run the ball. Once he gets knocked out of the game the Birds will go to 100% passing. Poor Donovan is the victim of a horrible offensive scheme this season. If Reid is still the coach next season I hope Donovan goes somewhere that he can be utilized to his abilities. Ideally I would love to see Reid go and McNabb stay with a new coach who believes in a running game. Stranger things have happened…

I remember Asante Samuels press conference when he signed.
“I came here because I want a chance to win a championship”
Guess he didnt get that chance in NE when he dropped that “Neil O’Donnell” pass from Eli late in the 4th in SB 42.

Lito’s been bad in his opportunities so far this year. Are we talking about the same #26? Perfect chance for his trade value to plummet even further. As for Lorenzo Booker…. The kid can play. How the hell can anyone call this kid a bum? It’s his second year in the league and first year on this team. He played very well for Miami at the second half of last season. They have Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams on that team and Parcells wanted to stockpile draftpicks. Thats the only reason they traded him. I wish Philly fans would educate themselves more before they give out their opinions. You make the rest of us look bad.

If you start booker - it is akin to stabbing your team in the heart- he will get carries bc 36 is hurt, but they won’t be productive carries -
And lito… please did you see him get schooled by a former U of D qb - and even seneca wallace - If I’m an opposing QB, I run a doubl;e move on 26 all day - he really isn’t helping his cause for a big money deal with his play -
His argument - I’m not out there enough - My argument - you suck - you have always been talented, but don’ have the hear to be a champion

If booker could play, he would have been playing - His major issue is protection - do you not recall how bad he looked against Pittsburgh in picking up the blitz - They wanted him to be an x factor, but he did nothing with his opps, and that combined with his failure to protect the QB landed him on the bench - Parcells is a better football mind than Reid, and if he thought booker was crap - he is probably crap -
This team is infuriating - And I still think they will win this game - Has ANY west coast team come to the East and won this year? Have they even been close to winning - Birds pull out an UGLY win w two scores on D

The entire reason the Eagles signed Asante was because Lito was frequently injured and bitching about his contract right? So you have a young Pro-Bowl caliber CB in Lito making about $2million per year, but you give and older Pro-Bowl caliber CB $8million dollars per year, on the basis that the younger one is injured too often. That makes so much sense. Who’s to say that Asante will stay healthy? This front office is a joke.

eagles are a train wreck. how does that fat turd with the moustache still have a job? and this is a passionate city? any other team would have fired him years ago. stop clinging onto that sb appearance….does it matter if samuel plays? the backfield is crap with or without. lito shmito that secondary has been overrated for years.
aside from dallas they are still the second best team in the division and maybe 4th best in the nfl but reid has to go.

This post is a joke. So you’d rather have them not sign Asante (overpaid or not), wait for Lito to get injured and then what? Start Joselio Hanson? If that was the case, right about now you’d be crying, “why the hell did the Eagles not go after Samuel?!” Now that’s a joke lol!

samuel was a product of the system in NE. hes kinda garbage. overrated like t newman..webster from the giants finally put it together, took time..right now hes the best in the nfc east followed by a healthy lito.
asante seems at times hes trying too hard to make the perfect play and big tackle to justify the money. how many years can we finish in last and not compete to make huge changes? everyone ran our praises bc we played dallas close but dallas is not even as good as us

Ummm…clangille…you need to maybe do a little research.
Lito is good, but Samuel is better. MUCH better. And Lito, when he was starting, was very good.
Also, calling Samuel “older” than Lito only makes sense if they’re infants, as in “Asante is 4 weeks older than Lito.”
Moron.

gallagher: booker didn’t fit parcells running game. he is too small. parcells third back also has to play special teams. Patrick cobbs does that now in miami. Andy wanted Booker the year before, and bill apparently snookered his buddy into giving up a 4 for him. Andy falls in love with players (darren howard, kgb, stallworth, clemons, schobel, booker) then sees if they can play. most either can’t or cant stay healthy.
now, seeing as andy gave up a 4, if the guy was producing at all in practice, he wouldn’t be deactivated while andy suits up 6 wides. the widespread belief among the reporters and observers of the team is he hasn’t learned the offense enough for andy to be able to leave him out there to pick up blitzes, which is important, since andy doesn’t have a tight end that can actually block. andy uses his best athlete by far, westbrook, for that drudgery on most plays. which of course is stupid.
but back to booker, andy has every reason to play him instead of buck since hes younger, cheaper, and they just traded for him. so the conclusion is that either andy has completely lost his mind; or the kid hasn’t turned the corner on the offense; or andy’s original love for him was misplaced. don’t put too much stock in players playing out the string at the end of games and at the end of seasons. sometimes what shines isn’t golden….. lots of mediocre qbs got undeserved paydays that way.
i was hoping booker could spell westbrook this season, and was andy. maybe by now he has it. it would have been nice had he had it last week and been active for the game. but he certainly will be active on thursday and its my guess westbrook won’t last the whole game. he is on one leg these days, so booker will get a chance to prove your point.
but until he does, i’ll believe what makes sense to me. since booker gained 125 yards last year at a 4.5 clop in mop up duty with a long of 22 yards, perhaps you have overestimated him. we’ll see
re lito i’m not sure how anyone who isn’t physically there and concentrating on the secondary rather than the game can adequately assess the play of a cornerback. usually the coaches tape tells the tale, and i’m not sure how bad lito has played. maybe you can explain why you think he has…

Fire Andy Reid. NOW.
OK, with that out of the way, phillyinsd has it about right. Booker sucks, can’t block, and plays scared. But WB is dinged badly, and so Booker will play a lot this week - poor Donovan. As thestan says, Booker is crap, and as between Reid and Parcells, one of them was smart enough to know it.
The Iggs are done for this year and the Cards - the effing Cards - should crush them this week. So yes, play Warner and Fitz and Q and whomever else in red you’ve got. Lito has played scared this year; maybe the Asante deal shattered his confidence.
For next year, I agree with Smush on the DBs. But no way they bring back Hunt this week - it makes perfect sense, but that would mean the FO admitting it made a mistake. That NEVER happens. Much better to have GLew make a few garbage time catches to pad the stats. Lord knows he can’t make one when it counts, not that it will matter much this year.
Remember, folks, it’s all about the money, it’s all about the money - that’s what Lurie meant when he called this team the “gold standard.”
