Rebuffed in his attempt to continue his coaching career in the NFL, former Giants coach Jim Fassel reportedly has met with the Toronto Argonauts regarding their current head-coaching vacancy.
Fassel is interviewing with Argonauts officials in Detroit on Wednesday.
Don Matthews unexpectedly resigned from the job at the end of the CFL season. He was 0-8 after replacing Rich Stubler in September.
Recently, Fassel reportedly sent a handwritten letter to Raiders owner Al Davis requesting consideration for the team’s coaching position, which currently is held by Tom Cable.

Raider’s not considering Jim Fassel’s pleas? And people say Al Davis has lost his mind. That seems like sound judgment to me.

Seriously, it’s not like Bill Cowher is dialing up Alice.
The Raiders could only improve under Fassel.

If a replacement coach resigns after going 0-8 to close out a season, I’d hardly consider said resignation “unexpected”. Even in Canada.

Wouldn’t a college job be a step up from the CFL? I mean didn’t this guy take his team to the Super bowl this decade?

Maybe he hopes the Argos will replace the Lions in the NFL.
Seriously, they need a CFL demotion rule for an 0-16 team.

Fire Andy Reid. NOW.
As Fassel does possess at least half a clue, he has Andy beat by a half. He should copy his letter to Davis and send it to Jeff Lurie.
Oh wait, that’s right - it’s about the money. Sorry, Jim.

How desperate is Fassel ?
He openly campaigns for the Raiders job and interviews for a CFL gig.
Isn’t there an Arizona high school looking for a JV coach ?

My sources say Fassel was actually interviewing for the head custodial postion at the stadium.
No disrespect intended for practitioners of the custodial arts.
And let’s not kick Fassel around needlessly, he had the NY Giants flying high for a couple years there.
Or maybe that was all Kerry Collins.
