After Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter picked up back-to-back 15-yard penalties late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Patriots, coach Tony Sparano had seen enough.
But when Sparano tried to pull Porter from the game, Porter refused to leave the field.
Porter is known for being a hothead, but a day later, he had cooled off enough to apologize. Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that Porter personally apologized to Sparano and to the rest of the team, saying he knew what he did was wrong.
The Dolphins haven’t said publicly whether they’re going to discipline Porter, but all indications are that he will be on the field Sunday when the Dolphins take on the Rams.

Now say you’re sorry Peezy…be a good boy.
Still won’t change the fact that his matador run support is non existant.
This guy is retarded.

I.E. Since the Dolphins’ playoff hopes rest on this weekend and they have lost one of their best offensive weapons for the season this past weekend, the team will look the other way and let Porter off the hook. In a time where guys like Plaxico gets suspended for missing a practice, it is inexcusable not to suspend a player for such a blatant example of insubordination.

Say what you want about Joey Porter…he has the nasty attitude that the Dolphin’s have sorely needed for years. JP has fired up this defense and that intensity has become apparent while solidifying the attitude and identity that Jason Taylor was unable to do. No offense to JT; his play spoke for itself, but never really fired up those around him.
Players are not electronic devices that you flip on and off like toys.
If you want players to bring 100% intensity to a violent game, you have to expect that intensity to get the best of them at times.
Sure JP is a loud mouthed, hotheaded fiery type, but THIS IS FOOTBALL, not chess.
FIRE IT UP JOEY!!!

Well, first off they are obviously different teams…but, we also don’t know if Joey Porter has done this same thing 40-50 times in the last few seasons, so, let’s not go and make a direct comparison

Does that include the penalties that go along with the additude thus helping the Dolphins lose on Sunday?

Two COMPLETELY situations…Plaxico exemplifies selfishness and a better than thou attitude while JP’s insubordination was brought on by emotion, intensity, and a will to win.
…C’mon robo, even a patriot’s fan can figure that one out, unless you choose to look away from Matt Light and Vince Wilfork’s antics.

That’s irrelevant moron. The guy disrespected his leadership on national TV. That’s not acceptable 1 time or 40-50 times. Totally different situation and pathetic you can’t use common sense to figure that one out.
Not punishing that action is just begging for more problems.

I think missing 150 practices isn’t as bad as blatantly ignoring the head coach’s orders to come off the field. You want to make direct comparisons, Mike Peterson was suspended for something very similiar to what Porter did but it was in the Jag’s lockerroom not on national television.

This should be Joeys time to shine vs Rams on Sunday. He sure does disappear against any good teams or in big games All his numbers come in blowouts or vs poor teams.
I think if Parcells was HC, Porter would be suspended, but as GM he’s more lenient.. The Peterson analogy is excellent & DelRio runs a country club.

There are other ways to fire up your defense than bringing on two penalties for 30 yards. That hurts the team and negates all the energy he spent trying to fire them up.

Does nasty attitude include whining about having the score run up on you? Before you guys start hating again, just in case you missed the actual end of the game, the Patriots called timeout after the kickoff because the Fins went into play formation instead of kneel formation. Bill sent out Wilfork and company on defense to make sure the Fins didn’t score.

I’m calling BS on both of you! The ONLY reason this hit the mainstream media was because a local beat writer made it public. This was not common knowledge during the game and was not broadcast on national TV during the game.
“Does that include the penalties that go along with the additude thus helping the Dolphins lose on Sunday?”
ABSOLUTELY!!! However it was the total defensive ineptitude that lost the game on Sunday, not JP’s individual penalties.

Joey Porter is an assclown. Last year the Fins fans couldn’t wait to dump on him, this year he gets a bunch of sacks but offers absolutely no run support and he’s a hero. He’s an effin’ zero. What’d he do Sunday but shoot his mouth off? A sack when it should have been offsides? Any tackles? He’s just good for a sound-bite or two for ESPN. Joey has a 3-dimensional game Dimension #1: Gets a few sacks, talks nasty smack all day. Dimension #2: Never Shuts the FU and helps cost his team games. Dimension #3: He’s dumb as a bag of doorknobs. The Pats know they have his number and can get into his head anytime they feel like it. They laugh about it too because he sure doesn’t intimidate them, he amuses them. How that douchebag has only been shot once is beyond me. Peezy was shot in the But-tocks by the way (yes, just like Forest Gump). Doctors never could remove the bullet however because they were afraid they would cause Joey further brain injury.

Why should the Dolphins suspend one of their best defensive players for wanting to play. Did Plaxico get suspended for not wanting to stop practicing? No. He got suspended for not showing up to practice. If Porter refused to go on the field you suspend him but refusing to leave the field warrants nothing more than an apology.
Yes Joey is an *ss but at least he has a desire to win which is a lot more than I can say for most of the other players in the league.

Big mistake by Sparano… it’d be better for him longterm to send a strong message that he’d rather lose a game - even a big game - and maintain control of the team, than let a punk like Porter give his coaches the finger mid-game (and apologize for it later of course).

SVNRDR..
Yes, he recorded 4 sacks in a Sept game vs a rookie QB.
At this time, he has 39 tackles…unheard of low for a 3-4 OLB who has zero pass coverage resposibility. He NEVER in his career exceeded 57 fackles, well below average for his position.
You, being so highly knowledgable about football , should watch his ‘ matador’ run support technique..a thing of beauty and keeps his uniform looking clean all game.
ooops forgot the excuse of OLB setting edge & having contain….great excuses, except Patriots ran empty backfield and noone else to contain….Also, forget excuse of doubling or TE’s chipping…BUT, forgot they were flexed wide also.
Sorry big guy…but yes…I have alot of hatred …..for a COWARD who needs 6 friends to hold someone down while he gets his punches in.
Thats Joey Porter…100% fraud

@svnrdr
The issue with Porter was very well known during the broadcast as Dierdorf even commented on how he thinks Sparano was trying to get Porter off the field. Most coaches will take someone who just received back to back unsportsmanlike penalties out for a play or two to calm them down.
Sparano was practically in the huddle yelling his name just as a sub was running on to the field. C’mon, didn’t you watch the game or did you somehow miss this part while going to pee?
It was very much commented on during the broadcast…
