After Redskins RB Ladell Betts fumbled to give the Seahawks a chance with 90 seconds to play, CB Shawn Springs picked off a pass to seal the victory.
Said Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck of the pick, “Just a very, very costly mistake. Huge mistake. I made a poor decision. It ended the game, really.”
Hasselbeck’s pick was the last in a series of missed opportunities in the second half for the Seahawks.
Redskins RB Clinton Portis fought through bumps and bruises to post 143 yards on 29 carries.
The Redskins used Portis to help them build a 17-minute edge in time of possession.
RB Julius Jones was introduced with the starters, but RB Maurice Morris got the nod for the Seahawks and ran for 103 yards and caught a touchdown.
Redskins RB Shaun Alexander didn’t play in his return to Seattle.
DE Andre Carter and DT Kedric Golston left the game with injuries leaving the Redskins defensive line rotation undermanned.
Seahawks CB/KR Josh Wilson had a couple of big kick returns and lured Redskins WR Santana Moss into a 15-yard penalty.
Said Redskins coach Jim Zorn, “To come home and face Mike Holmgren and that team and the coaches I know so well and achieve this, it’s cool.”
