On the third drive of the game for the Minnesota Vikings, running back Adrian Peterson has entered the game.
And on the first play, he ripped off a 21-yard run.
The reason for Peterson’s two-drive benching will surely be a hot topic in post-game interviews.

Childress just likes messing with the fantasy football people.

Is AP approaching any TD incentives in his contract structure? Maybe Chilly gave away an early 3 yard TD to Chester the Fantasy Molester because in the back of his mind he doesn’t want to unleash the best RB in the league and allow him to reahc his full potential?

What about just rewarding Chester Taylor with a start every now and then? The guy came here to be the feature back and moved into the No. 2 RB/3rd down back role nicely with no complaints or attitude. Got to throw him a bone once in a while with a goal line carry and an occasional start.
Also, didn’t Peteron have a cold and miss a practice early this week? It’s probably just a reward for Taylor being there all week than any kind of statement to Peterson.
To favre2vikings — That play at the 2 was all on Ferotte, not Childress. Ferrotte has to throw it away and have two more tries from 2 yards out. Shiancoe fell down on the route. There’s no reason to hold onto the ball waiting for him to get up and back into the play. A sack or interception were the two things to avoid, and Ferrotte let himself get sacked by not throwing it OOB as soon as Shaincoe slipped.
The play call wasn’t bad, though I did want to see them hammer the ball with Peterson or Taylor all three plays. Everyone expects a run by Peterson, so it’s easy to get Shiancoe to fake a run block and get behind the defender in the end zone. Plus it gives all future oppoenents something to think about in goal line situations, and having the CB or LB freeze while watching for the pass on a future goal line play may be just enough for Peterson to get into the end zone the next time.
