The New Orleans Saints have announced that the price of season tickets won’t increase in 2009.
The Saints have sold out the stadium via season-ticket sales for the last three seasons.
“I believe we have the most loyal fans in the NFL, and the support we’ve had from our season ticket holders since 2006 especially has been unprecedented in our club’s history,” said owner Tom Benson. “It’s a streak I wanted to acknowledge and see continue, and freezing season ticket prices is one way to recognize the atmosphere and enthusiasm that they bring to the Superdome.” The team also announced that prices at the concession stand and parking fees won’t change next year.Recently, the league annonced that playoff tickets will be, on average, 10 percent lower this season in comparison to last year’s average prices. The move toward containing prices is smart business. With consumers restricting their discretionary income, the league could be facing a spike in blackouts if people quit buying tickets because they believe they can’t afford them until the economy turns around.

That’s great, but the Saints need to make the playoffs first. I believe that they are in the cellar of the NFC South.

El Colon, you’re completely wrong.
The Saints have, by far, the best all time tickets sold-to-wins ratio of any franchise in the NFL, and it’s probably not close.

Hey colon
It’s easy to support a team that’s good. We Saints fans have supported a historically awful team for years because we ARE the most loyal fans in football, son!! I bet there are a lot of people in Arizona right now that never gave a rat’s ass about the Cards jumping all over that bandwagon. We may have worn bags at a lot of the games, but at least we showed up.

Good move by New Orleans. Seems like most teams that sell out via season-ticket holders tend to punish fan loyalty via price hikes, because they assume they can get away with it. The Titans have been selling out every season way before the season starts every year since they’ve been in Nashville. How do they reward the fans for being so loyal? By jacking up the prices, in some cases more than 10% in a years time (for some seats). Of course as long as the fans are willing to pay I guess it works but someday that may not be the case.

There is a statistic to prove any point, and I doubt that statistic is even true. I need a source backup your claim before I believe it.
Regardless, before Katrina hit there was serious talk of moving the Saints out of New Orleans.
Teams with a more loyal fan base of the top of my head:
Green Bay, Philadelphia, Washington & New York

Good for them, but let’s not get crazy with “the best fans in the NFL”. Fans of Green Bay or Pittsburgh might have something to say about that.

Great news for the NFL. Another reason they’re on top of the sports heap right now.
Other teams need to follow suit.

Most loyal fans!!!! Are you serious?!!! How about the fact that the Skins have been sold out since 1967? And to the point that the sell outs were due to them being a winning team is not accurate. The Skins went 40 plus years without a championship and the sell out streak began half way through that period. 3 years in a row of sellouts has nothing on over 40 years of sellouts. I think comparing the Saints fans to the Skins, Packers, or even the Giants fans is a joke. I am happy for them for selling out but lets not get to ahead of ourselves with this loyal fans crap.

the saints have managed to win some playoff games and been a decent-to-good team the last 20 years. before that they excelled in having the most colofully named players on their roster. and that’s about it. they actuall had a few .500 seasons (which should have been winning seasons) before they broke thru.
the saints have overtaken the falcons (more than once and probly now for good) in terms of all time franchise wins, which is saying something since the saints waited 21 years for their first winning season, and they never had a player as great as ookie the last dogfighter on their roster. what a burden it must have been to overcome…
falcons have still never strung 2 winning seasons together, last time i looked…
the new browns are just that - the new browns. the old browns have been and will remain the ravens. that browns/ravens team has been better than average for like 63 years. and until they won that super bowl, were the best team to never get to a super bowl, perhaps the best to never win one…

Trying to tell other fans who has the best fans is pointless. It’s all subjective to some degree and can’t truly be measured.

Its a owner saying that his fans are the best in the leauge and i think every owner would say that their fans are the best in the leauge. Like Mxd737 said you can measure who has the best fans. But come down to New Orleans one time during a Saints game and you will see what he is talking about.

Not so fast Tom. I’m a season ticket holder and I know I’m going to pay more money for next years tickets. This year I only paid for 9 home games since the NFL stole one form New Orleans and sent it to London. Next year I will be paying more BUT hopefull getting 10 home games.
