In response to our item regarding the perception in some circles that NFL V.P. of football operations Ray Anderson and another unknown league official were possibly celebrating with the Jets after their overtime win against the Patriots on November 13, V.P. of corporate communications Brian McCarthy advises us that the league believes there was no inappropriate behavior, and that the clip was removed from YouTube because it violated the league’s video policies.
“Ray Anderson and other league officials were headed into the officials locker room when they ran into some of the Jets. It’s common courtesy to say congrats to the winning team,” McCarthy said. “At Gillette Stadium, the visiting team locker room and the officials locker room are adjacent to each other so people headed to the officials locker room had to go by the Jets contingent.
“As to the unidentified Red Auerbach look-alike, I’m not sure who it was as we have many people on staff who look like Red Auerbach. Some of us look like Vince Lombardi.”

They forgot to mention that the “I TOLD YOU SO” (implies to me that there was talk before the game) was in regards to Starcaps. I want to know what that specific comment was in regards to. Maybe the commish needs to slap a few wrists of those around him.
This video adds fuel to some of the more than poor calls seen this year.

The offers of congratulations are not improper at all. It’s the “I told ya’” that raises eyebrows.
Now, I will sit back and wait for jimmysmith to chime in with some obsessive, anti-pats, anti-Kraft, I’m-batshit-crazy conspiracy rant that has only ever been muttered though his own keyboard- And he accuses Kraft of being a drunk. Nothing other than complete insanity combined with an IQ under 80 could explain his thoughts. Hi Jimmy-and hey there to you too Bellicheat. You can thank Florio for the two great opportunities he gave you both today to bash the Pats and thereby fulfill your social lives.

gotta admit, this sounds suspect… not that i’m complaining, after how easy the NFL took it on the Patriots with SpyGate, I have no problem with league officials celebrating them losing their biggest rivalry game.

This is bull. The Jets have gotten favored by the league since they got Favre, the league would do anything to have the Jets go deep in the playoffs. It showed it when they got some calls against NE in the Thurs night game when NE was coming back. WHat happens then? NE gets all their make up calls from the Jets game when they play the Bills.

espnsux,
Couldn’t agree with you more. Its not worth even responding to many of these stupid comments but I must agree Jimmy Smith does have some serious mental issues.Florio puts this story up and here come all the antiPatriot comments. It must be killing these haters that the Patriots have a shot to make the playoffs despite the injuries.Must be Belicheck cheatng some way that his teams win year in & out.
To all our tuck rule whiners, which rule is still on the books, tell me about Ben Dreith & the 1976 Championship game phantom roughing the passer call. Most of the posters have no idea what I am talking about. Heres one Pats fan that laughs at all this bent up hostility about the Pats. In Psychology 101 it is call jealousy & envy.

Eh - more spinach for a team like the Patriots that thrives on disrespect.
While I think Goodell should Fine himself for all the stupid moves he’s made, making Football look bad by trying to enforce unenforceable rules like taping signals and tampering, I’m not surprised that the NFL was happy that the Patriots hadn’t showed up the rest of the league by demonstrating that their 2nd and 3rd stringers are better than the Jets $140 million offseason spending spree.

Even if the jets did have the entire league including officiating crews, they would STILL suck and be without a QB next year.

Yeah, the I TOLD YOU SO, after a close game like that? Guys jumping out of the camera? GUILTY.
If the officials weren’t routinely deciding (ALTERING) the outcomes of games, this would appear less supsect. Not completely innocent, but at least less suspect.

Pats aren’t the only ones with injuries and are lucky they still have some 2nd and 3rd stringers to play; some teams are playing with 4th and 5th stringers, having to deplete their practice squads.

Another good call by the NFL. We all know that Goddell favors the Jets, that’s where he started his NFL career. He is a lousy SOB and should be fired immediately.

spyboots says: some teams are playing with 4th and 5th stringers, having to deplete their practice squads.
You’re talking about the Patriots. There is no team in the NFL that has suffered more injuries this season than the Patriots. Starting QB, Starting RB, 2nd String RB, 3rd String RB - all on IR - Starting S - IR, Starting LB, IR etc. etc.
And if not for two incredibly close games, with questionable calls and/or lucky coin flips, they’re 8-2. They might not make the playoffs this season but it’s been an incredibly entertaining season for Patriots fans watching the team take punch after punch and here we are at Thanksgiving still talking about the Playoffs. No one thought it would be possible as of Week 1.

@ JoeSixPack …. I believe the Pats are on track to beat their own NFL record of most injuries/ starters. I believe the 01 and 04 seasons had many injuries. ( forgot where I heard this crazy stat)
I too share your opinion that what they have done this year has been incredible. Great coaching and players ….. Doing their jobs.
