Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, who was conspicuously absent from the game plan during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 19-13 loss at Tampa, addressed the situation on Thursday.
Specifically, he responded to questions regarding whether he was surprised by his lack of involvement by turning the tables on reporters.
“Did it surprise you?” Peterson said.
Peterson later explained that his absence wasn’t the result of an apparently heated exchange between himself and running backs coach Eric Bieniemy.
Still, other than getting a kickoff return, Peterson had no touches in the final quarter — seven days after he literally carried the team on his back to a stirring fourth-quarter win over the Packers.
So, yeah, Adrian it surprises us.
Well, wait a second. Brad Childress is still the head coach. So, no, we’re not surprised.

That’s exactly it…Childress will do something every week that amazes me. Something that no other coach in their right mind would do. Honestly, the only other person other than Childress that would have kept Peterson out of the gameplan in the fourth quarter that game is Chester Taylor…or Taylor’s family members.

The Vikings only had the ball for 2 minutes and someodd in the 4th quarter with, if I recall correctly 1 timeout. Typically, under those circumstances, you throw the football.

The only silver lining to the Vikings stinking is the fact that Childress will be gone!! Too bad the Vikes aren’t making a play for Cowher like the Browns are.

While Chilly does deserve some blame, the Vikes barely had the ball in the 4th quarter & when they did, they were down & needed points.
They literally only had like 10 offensive plays or something like that.
Credit the Bucs for domination the time of possession and winning the game thru forcing turnovers and not turning it over themselves.
Clearly Florio does not like Childress, but it would be nice if he could take a more objective view of him sometimes.

Buckit is completely right,
If you look at the replay from last week the Viks didn’t have posession of the ball due to a fumble in the fourth quarter and long drives by the Bucs. They were behind so they passed. Believe me, I hate to defend Chilly, but this time there is no story. The game called for passing at that point.

They only had one drive in the 4th that you could really say they needed to get him the ball. And on second down they threw incomplete to him.

Childress has done this a few times, peterson has a good first half then for some odd reason he doesn’t get carries in the end. Terrible. As long as brad childress is the head coach, minny will not win. Think about this, tarlevious jackson is STILL on the roster. That means that he could still be the starter next year!!!!!! What’s the difference between cleo lemon and tarlevios jackson?…anyone?

I’ve criticized Old Big Daddy Stasche a bit too much. I’ve come to see the error of my ways and have accepted that Childress is not a dolt, but a sage whose seeming simplicity is deceptive. To this end, I’ve built an altar in his honor, and have collated all of his pubic statements and scrambled them into what I now understand is the leading philosophical/religious/cultural document of our time. In the interest of textual purity, I haven’t even removed one of his constant use of “-wise” as a suffix.
In truth, he makes it hard to enjoy my favorite team. I know it’s every fan’s greatest hobby to second guess and criticizes but Old Big Daddy Stashe even takes the fun out of that–it’s pointless and almost sad (mocking Childress), like challenging a three year old to arm wrestle.

Some of you just don’t realize that Peerson is unreliable.
Fumbling on 4th down and he is a terrible reciever.
When the vikings are losing in the 4th quarter as they frequently are, it is time to pass and you don’t want a guy out there that repeatedly has the ball bounce off his hands.
BTW the guy hasn’t had his annual injury yet.
