Receiver Greg Camarillo, unlikely hero of the Dolphins’ only win in 2007 and even more unlikely member of the starting lineup, has been rewarded for his performance with a new contract.
Per Edgar Thompson of the Palm Beach Post, Camarillo has agreed to terms on a three-year, $6 million deal.
The arrangement will keep Camarillo in Miami through 2011. He would have been a restricted free agent after the season.

He’s got some skills. He would have been nice to stay with the bolts but he couldn’t do more than Malcolm Floyd, who is the other guy with real good hands, route running and short on speed… but Camarillo should be a good reciever. like a mexican Cris Carter or something. i dunno. congrats dude.

Now here is one of the few guys in the NFL that earns every dollar he collects on Gameday. Good for Camarillo, he deserves it.

No his agent was not Vince Young as mentioned in a previous
post. It was Daunte Culpepper. Daunte’s retired now…well
not as a player but as an agent. Lucky for anyone who would
have thought to hire him in such a capacity.

Too Cool For School!
The dude has been quietly plugging along. An AWESOME TD run in OT last year. If anyone deserves the NFL lottery he does.
Congrats Camarillo!

And yet Matt Leinart is making more money than Camarillo. Who would you rather have on your team?

Dolphins can I get $6 million? This dude could only start for the Dolphins and no other team. I can’t believe you can get $6 million to suck.

“Unlikely?” By what criteria, not being a high draft pick? Playing for the Dolphins?
In a season when everyone has been surprised by Eddie Royal’s speed, route running, hands, and good attitude, Camarillo has been doing the exact same things without the press attention.
Ironically, Camarillo gashed Royal’s team a few weeks ago.

This guy is only the #1 receiver by default. If chancey stuckey from the jets or malcom floyd from the chargers were thrown into their receiver mix they could be getting all the catches too. The dolphins receiving corp is a revolving door of crap but with an accurate QB like pennington running the show a 3rd or 4th receiver for any other team like Armadillo or whatever his name is can get tons of catches each game.

So, we were willing to let Wes Welker go yet we pay Camarillo 2 M/year?
Welker would have stayed for that much cash.
Not a knock on Camarillo, but moreso on Cam and his staff.

some of you guys don’t understand football dynamics. The Patriots offered the fins a 2nd and 7th for him. if someone offered us a 2nd and a 7th for Camarillo, i don’t doubt for two seconds parcells would do that trade. Welker’s departure had nothing to do with money, it was just a sweet offer on the table. EVERY player has a price.
Camarillo has worked hard to get where he is, he’s no Wes Welker, but he’s damn good. People like to cite the poor WR corps in Miami, but the fact is this guy runs great routes, gets separation, and has hands that are near the top of the league. Speed isn’t his forte, but he’s our possession guy, not a deep threat. Floyd & Stuckey would be behind this guy on the depth chart. i can’t believe some people would even mention names of people with lower production, citing they are better than him. That is a horrible argument.

i forgot to mention, what irks me more than anything is that Ernest Wilford is still making more than Camarillo. talk about a bad investment. all you haters should be poking at Wilford, not Camarillo.
