Despite speculation that Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson could be suspended for his hit on Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck Sunday, it turns out that Wilson won’t even be fined.
Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the NFL has reviewed the tape and determined that Wilson’s hit on Hasselbeck was legal. No punishment will be administered, and Wilson will be on the field for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants.
Wilson was previously fined $25,000 for a hit that injured Bills quarterback Trent Edwards, and he had been warned that another illegal hit on a quarterback could result in a suspension. And Hasselbeck said after the game that he expected Wilson to receive league discipline.
But Hasselbeck said Monday that he hopes Wilson won’t be fined. So he’ll be glad to learn that the league ruled the hit legal.

Of course it was legal. What IS illegal, or ought to be illegal is
Hasselbeck’s sister-in-law.
I don’t like the direction Commission Gordon, errrrrr Goodell is seeking. Or, has achieved: it’s like a Tags re-do. Too much about the insignificant, too little about playing football. This was never, ever an illegal hit and only the incessant bitching by Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s brother-in-law made this an issue. Can all the Hasselbeck’s just go away? And take that 2-8
head coach of yours with you.

When is Jared Allen getting suspended? It is a complete joke that he has not been suspended yet.
And teddybayer, what does Elizabeth H. have to do with the NFL?

The hit was clean but I think given that he has been warned before, Adrian Wilson ought to be more careful about putting his helmet anywhere near an opposing QB’s. He is probably an inch away from ending Hasselback’s season (not that it matters much) and getting a 1 game suspension himself.

Dear packerswin, you cheeseheads live up to every and any expectation: it was comical reference to all the Hasselbecks.
They’re two really mediocre quarterbacks and an annoying chick on tv married to
one of the mediocre quarterbacks. But I wouldn’t expect a Packer fan to understand a comic reference. Go have a Brat, topped with cheese, and remember what a great trade your team made with the Jets. That’s the division-leading, 7-3 New York Bret Favre J-E-T-S Jets/Jets/Jets!
As for kaos2288, why not just suggest that Wilson give up football? IT WAS A
CLEAN HIT! IT’S FOOTBALL! He can’t dislodge his head while playing football, it was a clean, hard hit. Or did someone tell you that it shouldn’t be a contact sport?

Um, yo..dude. Elizabeth Hasselbeck is on the exact OPPOSITE of the political spectrum…she is on the far, Christian right. Drive through.
As for Matt Hasselbeck who said he didn’t have a concussion and sounded out of it……right. My advice to him is to keep his mouth shut.

Hasslebeck always seems to bitch about getting hit too hard. I like the guy as a QB but seriously. Man up and quit the whining.

I didn’t even think Wilson’s hit on the Bills’ Edwards was bad. Edwards got knocked out, but the concussion was likely a result of his head hitting the ground. And that is an unfortunate and potential consequence of any tackle.
People are making mountains out of mole-hills these past couple years. I look forward to when it’s no longer en vogue to demonize every defensive player that’s find himself on the giving end of a hard hit. Most of these guys are just doing their jobs.

teddybayer,
you give yourself way too much credit….perhaps the Packer fan didn’t get the ‘comic reference’, not because he’s a Packer fan, but simply because it wasn’t really very comical!!
Don’t give up your day job!!
Hope this helps…….
