Florio has been pretty vocal about what he perceived as the very positive “Haslett effect” when the Rams managed to not lose their first two games after Haslett took over. At the same time, Florio has been critical of Singletary as a head coach. So we have the Haslett-Singletary showdown, both 2-7, both pathetic. Sounds like a close battle… but no. The 49ers totally out-thunk (that’s what coaches do, right?) the Rams in the first half, and then just conservatively hunkered down in the second, while Haslett ordered up a couple of field goals while down by 4 to 5 touchdowns. Haslett has got to be the most thinking-challenged defensive coach in the NFL in the last decade.

I can’t believe anyone watched this turd of a matchup, much less feel compelled to discuss it after the fact.
