Washington Redskins defensive end Jason Taylor and cornerback Shawn Springs will both play today against the Cowboys.
That’s very good news for the Redskins, whose defense will be closer to full strength than expected.
Although Taylor has struggled all season with a calf injury, Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that Taylor is ready to go tonight against the Cowboys, and that Taylor is telling people he feels better than he has since June. And Springs is feeling good enough to go despite his own calf injury.
Still up in the air is whether Redskins running back Clinton Portis, who is listed as questionable with a knee injury, can play. Portis will test his knee in pre-game warmups and decide then whether he can play.
If Portis can’t go, Ladell Betts will start at running back.

Shawn Springs contract specifically states that it’s mandatory to play in both Dallas games. He can be out all other 14.
