RODGERS-CROMARTIE TO START FOR CARDINALS

The Arizona Cardinals have a three-game lead in the NFC West, and as they make their push toward the playoffs, they’re increasingly relying on young players to get them there. Cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, the Cardinals’ first-round draft pick out of Tennessee State, is expected to become a permanent fixture in the starting lineup as the team’s No. 2 cornerback. Rodgers-Cromartie has started three games this season when the Cardinals used their nickel package to start the game, but now Rodgers-Cromartie will be a fixture in the base defense. “I’m ready,” Rodgers-Cromartie said, per the Arizona Republic. “I ain’t sayin’ that I ain’t ready. I’m ready.” Rodgers-Cromartie is the second rookie in the last two weeks to move into the Cardinals’ starting lineup, on the heels of fifth-round draft pick Tim Hightower replacing Edgerrin James as the Cardinals’ starting running back. The promotion of Rodgers-Cromartie comes at the expense of cornerback Eric Green, who gave up an 80-yard touchdown pass when he was covering Rams receiver Derek Stanley on Sunday.
