TAYLOR, SPRINGS OUT FOR MONDAY

Calf injuries are going to have the Redskins defense hamstrung. Jason Taylor and Shawn Springs have already been ruled out for Monday night’s game against the Steelers. Taylor played on Sunday but had to have his calf lanced following the win against the Lions. He’s had swelling and had a strep infection in his calf. Coach Jim Zorn was adamant that it wasn’t staph, telling the Washington Post that it was “not dangerous” and came as the result of a “dirty wound”. Taylor will rest for the next few days in hopes that the swelling subsides and doctors can close the wound. If all goes well, he’s expected back in the lineup following the bye week. Springs’s prognosis is less positive. He’s missed three of the last four games with what MRI scans reveal as a severe strain.
