Eight days after catching the first two touchdown passes of his career, Giants receiver Sinorice Moss didn’t play on Monday night against the Browns.

Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger speculates that Moss could be on the verge of being traded.

But Garafolo also concedes that the signs don’t point to any imminent moves by the defending Super Bowl champs.  The Giants have been linked to Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez, but it appears that the Giants won’t pony up the kind of a package that the Chiefs desire.

Moss likely was scratched on Monday night because Plaxico Burress is back and Domenik Hixon is healthy.  Still, even with the two touchdowns a week ago, it’s hard to call Moss, a second-round pick in 2006, anything other than a bust.

Moss is under contract through 2009, at base salaries of $445,000 this year and $530,000 next season.
