The bye week came at the right time for Bills quarterback Trent Edwards.

Edwards, who was knocked out of the Bills’ Week 5 game with a concussion after Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson planted him into the turf, returned to practice today and said he expects to play on Sunday against the Chargers.

I’m getting better each day,” Edwards said. “It was a tough couple of days there after the hit. I had some headaches and residual effects from it, but slowly but surely they’re going away.”

Edwards participated fully in practice today. He said that he started to feel better during the Bills’ four days off, and he’ll undergo further tests tomorrow. If those go well, he expects to be cleared to return to live action.

Edwards declined comment on whether he thought Wilson’s hit was a cheap shot, or whether Wilson deserved the $25,000 fine he got. Edwards said he can’t remember anything for about 10 or 15 minutes after the hit.

“I remember sitting in the trainers’ room with my pads off and my shoes off, but I don’t remember how I got to the training room or who hit me,” he said. “I was kind of out of it, and didn’t know where I was. Slowly I came back to it.”

Wilson wasn’t penalized on the play even though it occurred directly in front of referee Jerome Boger. The hit can be viewed here.
