Eagles DE Juqua Parker intercepted a pass with 38 seconds left and returned it for a touchdown to seal the win.
Said Eagles coach Andy Reid of QB Donovan McNabb, “He stayed upbeat. That’s when leaders lead. When something negative happens, don’t hang your head. Just let everybody know that it’s not going to happen again, and we’re going to score. That’s how you approach it.”
The Eagles scored 23 points in the fourth quarter.
Said Eagles RB Correll Buckhalter, “Whenever I’m filling in for Brian Westbrook, I just go out there and have fun.”
For David Akers, every kick is a challenge.
Said Eagles TE L.J. Smith, “I just feel like I wish I had a little more opportunities. I can’t really do much with one pass a game. I can’t do it — nobody can do much with one pass a game.”
The 49ers look like they’re beating themselves.
Opposing defenses have figured out that 49ers QB J.T. O’Sullivan likes to look for WR Isaac Bruce deep downfield.
Mike Nolan went 0-for-2 on replay challenges.
For the 49ers, playing well for three quarters wasn’t good enough.

I just don’t understand how the Eagles light it up for the first 2-3 drives of every game, and then don’t do squat until halfway through the 4th quarter the past 3 games. What changes? Andy needs to stop playing to protect the lead and start playing to blow people out if need be. We can’t score 17pts in the 1st quarter then just play conservative until theres 10 minutes left and we’re down 24-17. You gotta run it up to AT LEAST 30pts before you can start playing conservative. It makes me sick as an Eagles fan to watch the success they have in the beginning of a game and then watch the play calling just deteriorate.

Will always love my Eagles, but we’re an 8 or 9 win team. We’ve got to stop carrying dead weight. Akers USED to be a great, very reliable kicker, but he hasn’t been for four seasons now. He must go. L.J. Smith isn’t going to have the break out year that we thought he’d eventually have…it’s time to move on. Matt Schoebel is a disgrace and Brent Celek hasn’t shown that he’s ready to start. If Tony Gonzalez is truly available, then J. Banner you’d better make it happen. Brian Dawkins, I’ll always love ya, but your age betrayed you (once again) in a BIG way on Vernon Davis’ big play. Big Red, your best days are behind you (at least with this team) and your legacy has been written and it says “how could this dumb mother effer not have given his quarterback more weapons on the outside??!!”
Just so everyone knows, if my Iggles look good next week then I’ll probably be talking Super Bowl again…shame on me!

What a lucky win against a bad team for Philly. Gotta love when SF goes away from the run that was working beautifully and puts the game in the hands of JT O’Sullivan. MARTZ IS A GENIOUS !!!!!!!!

Where the hell does LJ Smith get off wining? Step in front of the defender LJ…in front of him. Oh, and if you do, by some miracle, catch one - try not to fumble it away.

Next week is a bye…so they can’t lose!
I agree on Akers…
I used to love Akers for his clutch kicking, but that time has passed, and we need to move on. I know blocking plays a big part of field goals, and this may not have been his fault on the blocked kick, but he just can’t hit anything beyond 40 yards this year.

So let me get this straight: they’re off next week and thus CAN’T LOSE? That’s wonderful! What a frickin’ relief. Championship.
Thank you, dandrol, I had forgotten that it’s a bye week…you sir have just saved me a few bucks on two more bottles of Pepto Bismol.

The Eagles look so good in the beginning of games b/c their first few series are scripted prior to the game.
However, as the other teams adjust to what the Eagles, Big Red seems clueless.
The Birds had no business winning that game. We deserve to have an lackluster season due to our lack of TEs, FBs and Safeties.
I guess I can understand putting Klecko @ FB for a big blocking back, but what the hell is Donovan doing throwing to him?
Andy Reid…”we need to get our lineman in space…let them make plays.”

L.J. Smith was actually targeted a few times. He is just so bad that he only caught one. He also left McNabb high and dry by running behind Takeo Spikes on a short crossing pattern. He stinks.

Here’s a couple thoughts for Philly (and I’m a fan)…
1. FIND A NEW KICKER!!! (sorry… that’s been driving me crazy for the past couple years. Check Akers stats… he’s been terrible from around 40+ for the past couple years)
2. Either trade for Roy Williams or go back to the receiving corps of Weeks 1 & 2 (DJax, Baskett, Avant). Things seemed to go A LOT better.
3. Continue to keep the ball in #5’s hands down close to the goal-line rather than trying to be a smash-mouth football team… which you’re not.

Vox, you’ve always got something to say about Philadelphia, why are you so quiet about Dallas all of a sudden?? At least you know when to stop running your mouth, even if it’s only for a day, and what a great day it was. If Cleveland can somehow beat the Giants tonight, Philly will have picked up a game on the entire conference. Its way to early to say Philly is in real danger of missing the playoffs.
At best, Philly could end up 4-2 in the division, but even 3-3 is looking tough. If Washington continues to lose at home to the teams like the lowly Rams, and Dallas continues to turn the ball over every week and lose games on the road, Philly could go 1-5 in the division and still make the playoffs. We could finish 1-5 in the division, 9-7 overall, and still beat out Washington or Dallas based on overall record. Wins within the NFC would really help, and within NFC-East even more, but this aint over yet…
I think T.O. was crying underneath those sunglasses last night after the game…. “WHAT PART OF “I DON’T” DONT YOU UNDERSTAND!?!?” sniff sniff…. Getcha Kleenex ready.

They also need to DROP REGGIE BROWN. HE SUCKS. Use Baskett as your big guy, Curtis as your fast guy with great hands and use Jackson as your ’scat’ receiver who can catch and make YAC. Greg Lewis is generally a 3rd down MACHINE so keep him in on longer 3rd down plays and thats it. Cut Jason Avant, cut reggie brown.

I take issue with your last line of the one-liners. “For the niners, playing well for three quarters wasnt enough.”
They played well from :01 left in the second quarter to 14:55 left in the 4th, thats it. For anyone who watched the every play of the game, you would know that the Eagles D held the Niners to 3 FG’s in the first half, and the Niners D could not stop the Eagles, who put up 17 by the 2nd quarter gun.
After that block return TD to end the half, the Niners dominated the 3rd quarter, the only quarter which they played “well” in both offense and defense.
I’m suprised at your line, it rubs me the wrong way, but Eagles lines usually do on your site.

The Niners did not “Blow” the game. The Eagles would have “Blown” the game, after being up 17-6.
The Eagles “won” the game with D-line dominance in the final quarter.

@onepremise
If you are winning a game by more than 1 score (like 26-17) at the end of 3 quarters and your (former pro-bowl) running back is right around the century mark but you call pass after pass . . .
You might BLOW the game.
