Lions quarterback Jon Kitna won’t play today at Minnesota after suffering a back injury last week against the Bears.
Tom Kowalski of MLive.com reports that the Lions have downgraded Kitna from doubtful to out. It’s not known if Kitna made the trip to Minneapolis, but if he did, he’ll be watching the game in street clothes.
The Lions have also signed quarterback Drew Henson from the practice squad to the active roster, and he will be the No. 3 quarterback today. Henson is best known for his days as a schoolboy athlete, when he was considered one of the best prospects in the country in both football and baseball. He’s never done much of anything professionally in either sport.
It is assumed that Dan Orlovsky will start today against the Vikings, although he was limited in practice last week with an ankle injury. The Lions’ other option at quarterback is Drew Stanton, who split practice time with Orlovsky last week.

We need to play Stanton. Dan O seems like he could be a decent QB if he has great protection, but his accuracy goes out the window with just a little pressure and he has no mobility to speak of. Drew, on the other hand, can run and throw on the run.
