A league source tells PFT that Browns tight end Kellen Winslow is currently in the Cleveland Clinic receiving antibiotic treatments for an infection.
Per the source, it’s still iffy whether he will be ready to go for Monday night’s home game against the Giants.
Winslow’s condition has been the subject of much talk in league circles in the last couple of days. He spent the night in the hospital after missing practice Thursday, and then unexpectedly spent another night in the hospital Friday.
Browns coach Romeo Crennel has been vague, other than to say that Winslow’s arms and legs aren’t falling off. We’ve previously heard that Winslow has swelling in a certain area where he’d prefer not to have swelling.

what is with the Browns and infections? I know it is a dirty city and a dirty team but I didn’t think it would affect the players.

Sounds like a private matter.

If he’s being treated for an infection that has to do with that area, it’s VERY likely related to in some way.
Other types of non STD infections in that are DO exist, but are quite rare. Most of the time it’s due to Gonorrhea, Chlamydia or bacteria from Anal intercourse.
Wrap it up Kellen.

Infection is quite common with the Hydrocele operation.
I had the operation for Hydrocele and was in pain for
a week. I was also given antibiotics for an infection
that occured directly after the operation.

It isn’t out of the question that he could have MRSA in the genitals. If he came in contact with MRSA and had it on his hands and were to scratch the jiblets with his hand and there was the smallest of open wounds on the area, a MRSA infection would happen.
That being said, it seems the very best place (in a manner of speaking) to contract MRSA is the Cleveland Clinic. According to old reports, the director of the Cleveland Clinic is one of the foremost experts on MRSA (probably from ALL the freaking experience the guy has).
If it were MRSA that was in his sack, he can pretty much kiss his balls goodbye, if it can eat through LeCharles Bentley’s patella in less than a week, it can chew up and spit out his jewels in less time than that… and if I’m not mistaken, Winslow has already had MRSA, perhaps it has become recurrent with him? Edwards, Jurivicius, Bentley, Brian Edwards, Ben Leber and perhaps one or two other Browns have had MRSA in the past few years… so Winslow’s scrotum is fair game for the “Merciless One”.

Not to be a killjoy on all the potential jokes about this, but MRSA is definitely nothing to joke about. It nearly killed Winslow once already -and- Bentley. You might sit there and think, “Well, he’s at a hospital at least” or whatever, but take it from me, it’s a tough thing to beat. It’s amazing to see medical professionals be completely helpless.
