The Lions aren’t sure who will start at quarterback tomorrow at Minnesota, but they are sure about one thing: They won’t ask their quarterback to run the no-huddle offense.

Lions offensive coordinator Jim Colletto called the decision to run the no-huddle last Sunday against the Bears “a mistake,” and he said the team won’t run it again. Center Dominic Raiola went further than that.

“There was no communication,” Raiola said, per the Detroit News. “It looked like we were a Pop Warner team, people running ‘Go’ routes and throwing underneath, and throwing long routes and [receivers] running underneath. It was terrible. I was embarrassed to be out there. I mean, like coach [Colletto] said yesterday, I’d have booed myself.”

Of course, instead of just scrapping the no-huddle, another option would be to practice it until the Lions get to the point where they’re able to run it without looking like a Pop Warner team. Lions wide receiver Roy Williams suggested earlier this week that he thought that’s what the team should do.

“We reached for something and it didn’t work. So we get rid of it because it didn’t work,” Williams said, per MLive.com. “It is what it is. It doesn’t matter whether I agree or disagree. A lot of things don’t work but we don’t throw it out.”

Starting quarterback Jon Kitna is listed as doubtful with a back injury, so Dan Orlovsky, who has been with the Lions for four years, will likely get his first start tomorrow.
