Eagles running back Brian Westbrook will miss Sunday’s game at San Francisco with broken ribs.

Coach Andy Reid said at his press conference today that Westbrook, guard Shawn Andrews, wide receiver Reggie Brown and safety J.R. Reed will all be out Sunday.

Brian wants to go,” Reid said. ”He’s in the mindset that he wants to play, but it’s a decision that I’ve got to make. He’s a tough nut and I know that. I’ve got to do what I think is best for him and the football team down the road. It made the decision a little easier for me than it is for him. Obviously, he wants to contribute and compete.”

Westbrook, who was already playing on an injured ankle, fractured two ribs in Sunday’s loss to the Redskins.

The Eagles have their bye after the trip to San Francisco, and Westbrook is expected to be ready to go for their next game, October 26 against the Falcons.
