Once upon a time, Donald Trump wanted to own an NFL team. But instead of waiting for an opportunity to buy a franchise, he opted to join forces with the USFL, as owner of the New Jersey Generals.
And then he “declared war” on the NFL.
While the Trump-driven antitrust lawsuit against the NFL (which resulted in a $1 verdict) has made it unlikely that the Donald will ever own an NFL franchise, he has joined forces with the Jets to make a commercial aimed at persuading folks to place bids on the 2,000-member Coaches Club.
We’re not getting paid a dime (or a lot of them) to help the Jets raise a few million or more in new revenue, the arrival of Trump on the NFL stage is noteworthy, especially if it’s not appreciated by member teams with owners who were paying the bills for the legal fees arising from a legal battle that Trump instigated.
Such as, you know, the team that will be sharing the new stadium with the Jets.
Anyway, here’s the commercial. We figure that more than a few members of PFT Planet will be making their bids.

This is typical Trump. A big chunk of his money comes from marketing himself–putting his name on real estate and products he doesn’t own. He is the only casino owner, except for Moe Greene, who can lose money at it.

Two things I hate combine into one like sewage flavored Oreo: Donald Trump, and the Jets. The coach’s club, by the way, is absolutely stupid. The last thing the Jets need are 2,000 additional distractions, but whatever. Don’t let me tell the Jets how to lose.
Mangini… You’re fired.

I don’t think you have to worry about Trump owning a team, considering he owns casinos. Just ask the Rooney brothers if there is any questions.

So a bunch of very rich guys did not let Donald join their
club called the NFL. Donald got mad and joined another club
called the USFL. The NFL broke the antitrust laws of the U.S.
and The Donald got even more angry and sued but was awarded
only a token amount of money. Now Donald is not allowed to
play with the very rich dudes in the club called the NFL.
Well now that the Donald is back on top with real estate
worldwide and a brand name that some of the arrogant NFL
owners could only wish for. Trump may be looking to piss
off the NFL owners. In the future should the New York Jets
ever go up for sale. It would not suprise me to see Donald
Trump put in a bid and sue the NFL again if they will not
let him into their NFL playground.

Yes, it’s gonna be HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGEly expensive. Not only that, but HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGEly overpriced! As it should be! But you’ll be associated, however tenuously, with the BIGGEST, BEST name in entertainment and real estate!! * That’s just HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE!
HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE, I tell ya!
*(And also the jets, as if you’d care about that kind of thing.)

In these tough economic times, it’s going to be interesting how much they really generate from this. with the bids expected to be in excess of 25K/psl/seat and then $7000 for the season per seat.

Who the hell buys this crap? One of the guys at work is a (stinkin’) Mets fan, and they want thousands for season tickets. I thought that was the most rediculous waste of money ever until this came out. Really - for the JETS????
