Texans quarterback Matt Schaub will be back in the starting lineup this weekend against the Dolphins after missing Sunday’s game against the Colts because of a viral infection.

“Matt’s still a little weak, but he should be fine,” Texans coach Gary Kubiak said Monday. “He’s feeling a lot better today. I don’t see any reason he won’t be on the [practice] field Wednesday.”

Through 55 minutes of Sunday’s Colts-Texans game, Schaub looked like he was in danger of losing his starting job. Sage Rosenfels had played efficient football and appeared to be on the brink of leading the Texans to a win over the Colts. If he had closed the deal, it would have been tough for Kubiak to justify giving Schaub the job back.

Of course, as it turned out, Rosenfels had three turnovers in the closing minutes, the Colts pulled off a shocking come-from-behind victory, and now no one is surprised that Rosenfels is heading back to the bench.

In three starts this season, Schaub has completed 64.5 percent of his passes, with four touchdowns and five interceptions.
