New Orleans Saints cornerback Tracy Porter had surgery today to repair a wrist injury suffered in last night’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Saints coach Sean Payton told reporters about the injury today but said he didn’t know how long Porter would be out.

His wrist was dislocated,” Payton said. “He had a procedure done to put it back in place, so we’ll have an announcement, I think, soon, in regards to the time frame. Right now I don’t want to speculate, but I know the procedure went well.”

Payton said Porter went from the stadium to the hospital last night and is scheduled to be released today.

Porter, a rookie second-round draft pick out of Indiana, has started all five games for the Saints this season.

UPDATEPorter has been placed on injured reserve, ending his rookie season.
