New Orleans Saints cornerback Tracy Porter had surgery today to repair a wrist injury suffered in last night’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Saints coach Sean Payton told reporters about the injury today but said he didn’t know how long Porter would be out.
“His wrist was dislocated,” Payton said. “He had a procedure done to put it back in place, so we’ll have an announcement, I think, soon, in regards to the time frame. Right now I don’t want to speculate, but I know the procedure went well.”
Payton said Porter went from the stadium to the hospital last night and is scheduled to be released today.
Porter, a rookie second-round draft pick out of Indiana, has started all five games for the Saints this season.
UPDATE: Porter has been placed on injured reserve, ending his rookie season.

I may need wrist surgery, too. But for entirely different reasons.

If not for his injury, Jason David would not have been on the field for the backbreaking pass interference play that resulted in the game winning field goal. Is Jason David a starter now?
Also, am I the only one that thought they should give up the TD with just over a minute left and 2 timeouts rather than getting the ball back down 3 with 12 seconds and no timeouts?

Porter was playing great. I hope he can come back this year. If not, it looks like the Saints may have finally drafted a CB who can play. If the Saints run defense shows up for the rest of the season like they did last night the Saints should be ok. Coleston and Shockey will return soon and you would think that the Saints won’t make that many mistakes again in any game that remains. Saints could easily be 5-0, but they are 2-3, those are the breaks. They have the talent to get a streak going if the defense continues to play well.
