Contrary to a report from the Dayton Daily News indicating that the 49ers are interested in trading for receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh or receiver Roy Williams, a league source tells us that the Niners are interested in neither player.
It struck us as unusual that a newspaper in Dayton would have access to internal discussions involving the 49ers, and we probably should have said so.
Regardless, we’re told that the story isn’t true. It could be that the Bengals would like to conjure a trade market for Houshmandzadeh, and that the Bengals are leaking rumors of the supposed deliberations of other teams in order to get someone to call about Houshmandzadeh’s availability. If the Bengals were to initiate trade discussions, they might be regarded as anxious to trade him, which would then drive down the price tag.

That’s Mike Brown. Too cheap to call an out-of-state newspaper to leak a rumor…

Rumor has it, the Niners SHOULD be interested in TJ or Roy. TJ as a Niner would be thrilling, especially with the rebirth of Isaac Bruce.
Houshmanzadah is a better player than Roy Williams, mainly because he ddrops fewer passes, and doesn’t make a ridiculous motion for a first down every time he makes one. Roy’s got a better hair cut, however.

How pissed off would Soapo Disho be if the Bengals traded Houshmandzadeh but kept him?

You give far far too much credit to Mike Brown. He simply does not have the football brain power to be that sneaky.

It seems odd the Bengals would want to trade Houshmanzahda. He seems like a better player than Chad Ochocinco Johnson Jingleheimer Smchmidt to me at this point.
What do your “insiders” think Florio? Is Housh the better player right now like it seems to us ordinary fans?
