Despite an injured throwing shoulder, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger attempted 41 passes.
Said Steelers coach Mike Tomlin of Roethlisberger, “That’s Ben. Sometimes he holds the ball too long, and the offensive line catches a bad rap for it. But you take the good with the bad because he can step up and deliver the way he delivered tonight.”
Said Jaguars CB Rashean Mathis, “Ben is an amazing player. He makes plays other quarterbacks probably wouldn’t.”
Steelers RB Najeh Davenport, signed last week, returned the opening kickoff and converted a third-and-1 by gaining 3 yards.
The fill-in running backs earned an A grade.
The bye week is coming at a good time for the Steelers.
Steelers K Jeff Reed (calf), WR Dallas Baker (shoulder), LB Keyaron Fox (hamstring) and OT Marvel Smith (cramps) left the game with injuries.
Said Jaguars CB Rashean Mathis of his early interception, “We were in man-to-man. I used good technique, broke on the ball and was able to make a play to help my team.”
Jaguars WR Matt Jones drew two crucial penalties for 54 yards, leading to two Jaguars touchdowns.
Of 66,000 seats at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, roughly 20,000 were occupied by someone waving a Terrible Towel.

Weaver should sell the team. There would only be, what about 40,000 fans that would have to do something other than watch a Jags game on Sunday. The Jags fans are the most ignorant fans in the NFL! Heck there were more Steeler fans at the game, and I would bet that they know more about the Jags than the spattering of Jags fans at the game.

and the jags arent banged up right now? we are currently without 3 starting offensive linemen, and were minus half our starting secondary last night, also missing depth on the d line. steelers are too, so ill give them that. i have a lot of respect for ben and the steelers, i just hope we can see them again this postseason when were both healthy..

Too bad Jacksonville lost, but did you see David Garrard’s calves?!? Holy mackerel! Those have to be the best calves of any QB in the league! If the Jaguars have nothing else, they have David Garrard’s calves.

“Despite an injured throwing shoulder, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger attempted 41 passes.”
of course, because for whater reason jaguars ONLY rushed and almost all game their 4 down lineman.
its a no brainer when you face a slow footed rothlesberger or a warner you pressure him constantly. otherwise he will tear you apart with time. and with guys like william peterson in your defensive backfield you have no d-backs. buffala a blitzing team also decided to rush 4 and they got torn apart. both wash and jets showed them what to do to warner.
i have not a clue how stupid some of the nfl coaches are.

Feels good to be 4-1 . But with the Chargers Pats Skins Cowboys Ravens Colts and Giants its going to be a tough second half . But if we come out of this with an 10-6 or better and are heathly . Lookout in the post season . This will be a battle tested experienced team to contend with .

Well, Bob, considering Roethlisberger is in fact one of the most mobile and elusive QBs in football, you have to wonder if nfl coaches are the “stupid” ones here.

The Ravens fans and local media (I live in Md) are all crying about the “bad call” on Suggs “THAT COST THEM THE GAME”
Uhhhhhhh, that interception thrown by Flacco with under 2 minutes left had nothing to do with the loss. Nothing whatsoever. Duh.

Say what? is your real name stevie wonder? ben r is one of if not the slowest slew footed qbs in the league. yes he is hard to pull down when in someones hsands becaause he is so big. thaty is why eagles sacked him 9 times. and you cant merely try to rush 4 against all his protection and pull him down eventually with one man.
ben r or a warner the guaranteed way to beat them is by blitzing especially when neither had a running game.
jax was obviously saving it for later - might have well not shown up. thats why fans were booing. that why madden kept repeating the obvious you cant rush him with just 4 men.
but you didnt see it. another genius on this board. were you one of those saying wayne kiffin was right in not using those 2 timeouts in the oak/buf game.
it would be a complement to you if i called you stupid. but maybe one day youll reach tht level. whatever go out there paint your face wear the sweater they sold you and tell everyone what a great fan you are of your favourite team this season.

The very fact that Ben is difficult to bring down makes him “Elusive”. And the Raiders ex coach was Lane not Wayne Kiffin. Who says the jags fans are ignorant!!!

ben r sure was “elusive” when eagles pulled him down 9 times the week before or last year in the game that counted in the playoffs against the jags. refusing to blitz him as jax did on sunday early in the season is no measure of his speed and agility. he is one of the slowest footed qbs in the league. even looks heavier now a couple years after his super bowl year.
kiffin had his 15 minutes of fame - his name is long forgotten - at least he still has those 2 time-outs in his pocket and holds the record for ordering the longest field goal attempt ever.
