The Redskins rolled up 204 yards on the ground against an Eagles run defense that had allowed a total of 215 rushing yards in its first four games.
Said Eagles QB Donovan McNabb, “I was embarrassed the last two weeks. Two teams that we should not have lost to.”
Redskins coach Jim Zorn won the coaching battle.
Eagles RB Brian Westbrook can’t seem to get healthy.
Said CB Sheldon Brown of the lack of enthusiasm from the home crowd, “It felt like we were on the road for some reason.”
Eagles coach Andy Reid puts the responsibility on himself for the team to play better.
The Redskins are playing well on the road.
The schedule gets easier for the Redskins in the coming weeks.
Redskins DE Andre Carter had a big game and said afterward, “In this business, there’s always somebody nicked. The next guy has got to stand up and fill the void when we’re missing someone. And that’s what we did today. We went out and played 11 men as one, no egos, no individuals.”
Redskins players had some interesting descriptions for coach Jim Zorn’s gutsy decisions.

Looks like all the wildcards are coming from the east again.
Wouldn’t be surprised if the 2 NFC east wildcards have better records than the division champs of the other 3 divisions.

What a moronic statement! I love how all the Philly papers and other football sites are bashing him for it.

When the Redskins won in Dallas, it was said that they won because Dallas played poorly and the line showed it Washington (+11.5). Washington won by two. The Redskins could not win two division road games in a row, right? Eagles -6.5, the Redskins won, must have been the Eagles just didn’t play well, see McNabb’s comments. So with the next three oppents of the Redskins having a combined record of 1-11, I ask you are the Redskins going to be the most overlooked 7-1 (hopefully) team by the season’s half way point?

Spent all my life loving the Redskins. It spans several decades. I honestly can’t remember the last time the Skins went down 14, and it seemed like everyone on that sideline knew they would come back and win.
Heck…I can’t remember the last time I “KNEW” they were going to convert on a pivotal 4th down. Confidence is high on the team, and in the fans.
The local guys were on ESPN980 on the drive in this morning. They mentioned an interesting stat. In the last 10 regular season and playoff games (a.k.a. games that matter), the Redskins are 8-2.

I can’t believe Brown’s comment that it seemed liek a road game - I was at the Linc yesterday and we were as loud as normal (season tickets in my family, I’ve been to all 3 home games this year and about 25 others over the last 5 years).
It get dicouraging when you are standing en masse on multiple 3rd and 9’s and the defense keeps allowing first downs. Also a drive that starts on the 3 at my end of the field (left on TV) and we are standig gand screaming, then about 3 plays later they are out to the 40.
Then they trot in Akers to try a 50 yarder and everyone around me, including myself, are say ‘why kick it he won’t make it - go for it’ and then he misses the kick.

There goes delusional McNabb again. When is he going to stop spouting off his mouth? The Eagles aren’t very good. There is a reason the couch doesn’t want the ball in his hands at the end of the game.

A. Let the Kevin Kolb era begin NOW!
B. Begin talks of Reid on the hot seat… How many games (I think about 23 since the super bowl) has he said “I am to blame for the performance of the team out there… Come on Andy, the city is on to you and your “Tryin to Politic” attitude… You are too blame, your coaching has been horrific since the Bowl…
C. Start locating Bill Cowher… See if he is interested in future employment opportunities come March…

With how that game started I didn’t see how the Skins could win but they did and they showed dominance in that second half. My hope is that the Eagles don’t continue to falter on games they could win. And I’m quite impressed by the Skins depth cause except for Carter I don’t think their starting DLine was in that game by the end. I think the Eagles need to take a cue from the Skins and continue fighting like you want it throughout the game.

Everyone said that the Redskins’ success at the end of last year was just due to “playing on emotion”, whatever that means. If you can play solid football and put up points and move the ball like the Redskins and go 20 quarters of football this year without committing a turnover on offense (they have 2 turnovers on special teams)… You’re going to be tough to beat.
The Redskins’ last two opponents were good teams who were playing well at home and the Redskins still were able to win. With 3 awful teams coming up the next 3 games, this team is giving the fans a much needed reason to be excited.

Yeah right! Blame the fans. Didn’t, er I MEAN DON’T the Giants RIGHT NOW HAVE A CURRENT WIN STREAK on the road in front of road fans dating back to the 2nd road game last season?

After the their first drive and the DJax punt return, the Eagles O played like crap - except for the one desperation 4th quarter drive where, for the 2nd week in a row, they couldn’t punch it in from the 1 or 2 yard line. What we know today is that Westbrook broke two ribs early in the 2nd drive, neatly coinciding with the implosion of the Eagles offense.
Meaning, once again, that the Eagles’ O is almost completely dependent on Brian Westbrook. Without the versatility and skills he brings to the field, nothing else works on that O. IOW, he’s the only real playmaker, the one guy who can make his own shot; the others are just role players.
Meanwhile, the Redskins’ offense slowly but surely and inexorably wore down the Eagles D that was forced to return the the field time and again after Eagles’ 3-and-outs. They are undersized up front, and the Skins pounding wore them down until they broke.
What can we learn from this? Five things:
1 - The Redskins have a solid, tough, well-balanced, well-coached team that should be a lock for the playoffs.
2 - After years of excuses such as “having to do better than that” and “needing to put players in a position to win” it is clear that Emperor “Offensive Genius”, Andy Reid, is all flab and no clothes. His arrogance is so great that YEARS after it was evident that his “system” did not and could not repeal the laws of football physics, he STILL does not have the personnel to sustain a power running game OR the WR/TE talent to sustain his preferred pass-first WCO against quality NFL opposition. This despite being EVPFO since 2002. His “system” cannot take mediocre talent and lack of balance use it to beat sensible balance or superior talent. ‘Tain’t happening.
3 - Ergo, in addition to his weighing more that several gross of them, Andy’s head is as thick as a brick.
4 - The Eagles will not contend, especially in the NFCE, until Andy gets the personnel to implement, and then actually implements, a more traditionally balanced offense where talent, especially at the skill positions, matters more than his system. Assuming he actually can and will do this - which I strongly doubt - it will likely take several years; meanwhile, McNabb’s prime years are passing.
5 - Ergo - it’s end of days for Andy Reid. Time for the Eagles to cut 300 pounds of ugly fat, and get a head coach with his feet on the ground and that knows what it takes to win consistently in the NFL is who is on the field, not on the sidelines.

At 55 yrs old, Zorn is not exactly a young guy.
But he is a very promising first year coach.
I am happy for the Redskins organization
since they have been through it.
I want the Eagles to beat ‘em next time,
but I am glad to see those guys get it together
moreso than the past 15 years.

This has been an unbelievable year so far… Now they need to keep up the intensity with the winless Rams, 1 win Browns, and winless Lions coming to town in the next few weeks… Games like these have been the achilles heel of the Redskins the past few years.. losing games they should win… Then they take on the Steelers on Monday NIght in November..hopefully at 7-1… WHat a matchup… Then a bye week and the Cowpokes after the Bye…. I don;’t want to get ahead of myself or the team, but the possibility of 9-1 is certainly not out of the question.. IF and ONLY IF they keep their intensity up for these “easy” games. As we all know, ANY team can beat ANY OTHER TEAM on any given Sunday. That being said… I’m loving this team right now! Hail to the Redskins!

I’m going to address both posts:
to Smiley says: give me a break, your team was outplayed in every part of the game from the 2nd qtr on. did you look at the stats???
to bearsfan79; yes it is early, but that does not seem likely right now. remember the skins have already played all of our road division games and won 3 out of 4. not bad for a rookie head coach, heh… also JC has no int this season. none of the other QB’s in the NFC or AFC can say that
