The Dallas Cowboys already have one Roy Williams on the roster, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says they won’t be adding another.
Jones tells Peter King of Sports Illustrated that the Cowboys won’t be swinging a deal with the Lions to add wide receiver Roy Williams — and they won’t be swinging a deal with any other team to add any other receiver, either.
“We have no plans to trade for a receiver before the trading deadline,” Jones said on Sunday afternoon.
When King asked again, directly, whether there would be a trade for a receiver, Jones again said there would not be.
“No,” Jones said. “No trade for a receiver.”
Williams, who holds the distinction of being a Matt Millen draft pick who didn’t bust, is reportedly on the block, if there’s a team willing to pay the Lions a high price for his services. Jones, however, says the Cowboys won’t be that team.

Let’s see if that claim has any more credibility than Nick Saban’s “I’m not going to be the Alabama coach” remark…

If Dallas thinks they are going to win a Super Bowl with Crayton and Miles Austin on the other side of T.O. they are crazy.

Why would Jerry Jones tell Peter King anything, knowing full well it goes into an INTERNET COLUMN 28 seconds later? “Yes…we have an interest in Roy Williams” ends up a) costing him money since he is on a roster already or b) costing him TWO high draft picks.

Awesome, hopefully the Eagles will get into the mix. Maybe Lito and some later round draft picks? Or maybe one of our two first round picks? We have some bargaining chips to work with here.

If Al did make a move for Roy Williams, it’d give the Raiders a pretty scary looking offense, if the tackles can protect Russell, because nobody will want to stuff the box and put their guys into man against Williams, Curry & Walker, with Zach Miller as well being a very handy reciever.
DO IT AL!

I hope the Lions trade Roy. The team is garbage, and the only way they’ll be able to improve is to draft well (I guess we’ll see if this becomes a reality after they choose a new GM). If they can get a 1st or even 2nd rounder for Roy, I think it’d be a good idea. You never know, though; if anyone would pay the ridiculously high asking price of two first-rounders, it’d be Al Davis. If he does, I’ll be ecstatic.

Question: How do you know an NFL GM is prevaricating (thanks Tiki) when asked a straight question by a reporter?
Answer: His lips are moving.
WTF whould Jones tell King he was interested in Williams or any other player? He’s in a dog fight in the toughest division in the NFL with teams that might have similiar needs. If he’s trying to get a player for the lowest price possible with no competition from other interested teams, why would he ever let a reporter know?

Why would anybody pay a high price for williams? He is NOT an elite reciever. I would never give up 2 picks for that guy! Let him rot on the lions.

Why would the Cowboys, averaging scoring over 30 points per game, give up a premium pick to add an overrated WR? Consider that they already have a problem with not enough balls to go around among TO, Witten, Barber and Felix Jones. And, don’t sell Crayton, Austin and Hurd short. They aren’t stars but they are totally serviceable role players.
A Roy Williams trade makes sense in that it would make a splash (this is Jerry Jones we’re talking about, of course), but it doesn’t make football sense. Now, maybe get him this off-season if they have to cut the cord with TO because he’s become too big of a pain in the ass.
