The New York Jets have welcomed back running back Jesse Chatman, who was suspended four games prior to the start of the season.

To create a space for Chatman, the Jets have placed safety Eric Smith on the reserve/suspended list.  Smith will miss one game due to his helmet-first hit on Cards receiver Anquan Boldin.

Chatman tested positive for a masking agent, which triggered a violation of the policy regarding anabolic steroids and related substances.

As to Smith, the Jets still might have to create a roster spot for him; he’s appealing his one-game suspension, and a ruling is expected before Sunday.
