Seahawks wide receiver Deion Branch was finally healthy enough to get on the field for the first time this season on Sunday against the Giants.
But he wasn’t able to make it out of the game with his health intact.
Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said today that Branch is out indefinitely with a bruised heel. The injury is a painful one, and the issue for Branch will be whether he can tolerate the pain.
Branch missed all of the off-season, preseason and the start of the regular season following knee surgery in January. He has missed 10 games in his two-plus seasons with the Seahawks.
Holmgren said quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has a “tweak” of his knee but will be OK and that cornerback Kelly Jennings suffered a concussion and will be OK.

Branch might be the most fragile receiver in the NFL

Bill Belichick and Scott Pioli are not getting ANY credit for letting this guy go. Seriously, has he even played a game for Seattle? They got a first rounder for this shmuck? To say that they are playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers would be an understatement.
Thanks Holmgren!

You’d think teams around the league would be wise to this by now…..Signing a standout WR from New England is like signing a 1,000 runner from Denver.

Another first-round pick down the drain…
Methinks the Hawks are playing for a high first round pick in the offseason in preparation for a new head coach. at least they sure look like they’re playing for one. this news definitely doesnt help matters.

They can have D.J. Hackett back, they can keep each other company in the training room.

Hey BuckFutter, so I guess Portis never really made anything of himself after he left Denver….or, he became a nasty, bruising, blitz-picking up, bad-azz running back!
Point, me.

lol @ getting a first round pick for Branch, then getting Moss for a 4th. The Pats are amazing.

I don’t think enough hay is made about the Branch trade. This is easily on par with the WR busts in Detroit, yet it’s largely ignored. Dealing out high draft picks for questionable players is a quick way to sink your team, and it looks like the Seahawks are sinking. Coupled with the success of the Cards, Saints, Panthers, Packers, Redskins, Cowboys, and Eagles, it’s very hard to argue that the Seahawks’ Super Bowl window hasn’t already closed.

Might as well change her name to Deion Twig. Good move, SHEHAWKS.

hey don’t forget the Seahawks also gave a 7-year $49 million contract to former Viking one-year-wonder Nate Burleson….and he’s perenially injured too. Their propensity for mismanaging wide receivers is almost Millenesque.

unctaylo, Oh, you’re right. I forgot about Portis. Well done. I was too busy focusing on Tatum Bell, Mike Anderson, Reuben Droughns, and Olandis Gary.

75 points to youareallcluelessmorons for coining a new word that should be a part of pro football lexicon for years to come.

Holmgren didn’t make the Branch trade, bozo. “Timmay!” Ruskell has made all the decisions on personell since he got there. If it were up to Homlgren, Steve Hutchinson would be our starting LG, Darrell Jackson and DJ Hackett would still be on the team, and Shaun Alexander would have at least been brought to camp. Not to mention TJ Duckett would be bagging groceries at Safeway.

This guy was one big injury issue with New England too. I remember saying that he would be a pro-bowler if he ever actually got through one complete season.

Osiris, you want the Shaun Alexander of today on the Seahawks? Really? He was a great runner in the past but he’s clearly washed up.
