A week after a key player for the Arizona Cardinals was knocked out (literally) by a helmet-to-helmet hit, a member of the Cardinals used his hat as a weapon, and almost certainly will be fined for it.
Safety Adrian Wilson sent Bills quarterback Tent Edwards to the showers early by putting the crown of Wilson’s helmet into Edwards’ facemask. The play took on an even higher level of violence as Wilson seemed to intentionally drive his hat into Edwards’ jaw when the two of them hit the ground.
If the goal is to stop these kinds of hits, then Wilson needs to lose a significant chunk of his pay for the week.
Meanwhile, NBC’s Keith Olbermann will likely generate a flurry of calls and e-mails for his comment while narrating highlights of a disoriented Edwards being carted off the field.
“I can see Russia from here” was the line Olbermann attributed to Edwards. It was an objectively funny line, but the pro-Palin viewers in the audience, who surely are already looking for reasons to complain about the polarizing Olbermann’s involvement in a sports show, probably won’t see the humor in it.

He shouldn’t get fined. If you look at the play, it wasn’t even helmet-to-helmet. Edwards got hurt when his head slammed into the ground. I’m not a fan of either team, but it would be BS for the NFL to fine Wilson. What was he supposed to do, flip their bodies around in midair so that he didn’t come down on top of Edwards?

How about adding Kawika Mitchell to that list for his helmet to the chin of Warner. It actually bloodied him.
Kieth Olbermann has always been a turd.

And here’s a pic of the hit:

Yep, it loks clean to me. All he does it try to tackle him. He did not launch himself and he did not lead with the helmet. Yes, his upper half was ahead of his lower half, but when you run AT someone, your body will do that. This is not a penalty or rule violation.

Wait, you mean Olbermann made a snide comment referencing a Republican? Say it ain’t so!
Objectively, Olbermann does not belong on a football show. If he must be involved in sports broadcasting, just put him on baseball games, where he’s happier.

Keith Olbermann should be dropped immediately from coverage of the NFL by NBC Sports. For this dunce to make a comment like that after a player has suffered a potentially serious injury is beyond the pale. The fact that he was initially put in this position just shows how far NBC has sunk over the last few years. As a stockholder of GE (the parent company of NBC) I am appalled by the behavior of Olbermann. Doesn’t he know how many players (especially QB’s) have had their careers cut short because of concussions? Does he even care? Until dirty hits are treated as serious by all parties, including “analysts”, they will continue. How many players have to be injured unnecessarily by dirty hits and “analysts” who make fun of the outcome of the hits.

I’ll admit Palin isnt smart as soon as Democrats admit that Obama is a socialist has no experience and is nothing but a good orator when reading from a telepromter. Palin has more experience than your Presidential candidate, the community organizer.

Boy, for being a party that loves war, loves guns, hates a variety of ethnic groups, enjoys blaming poor people for their own suffering, and doesn’t give a damn about endangered species or the environment, Republican football watchers sure are a bunch of whining babies. Ever think that the reason they all get their panties in a bunch is because Olberman’s rants are true? That Russia comment was hilarious!

As obviously, a left wing lawyer’s sense of humor is really “objective”. What the hell is “objectively funny” supposed to mean anyway? What kind of messed up conceptualization of humor does one need to have to believe that not only there are things that are “objectively funny”, but then to judge one’s own opinion as a sufficient measure as to whether something meets the standard of being “objectively funny”. On a side note, Keith Olbermann is a disgrace.

I think the reason it looked bad is that Edwards’s helmet slid up his face after he hit the turf. If his helmet stayed fastened, no one would be concerned.
And as for Olbermann, seriously? You’re going to be offended anew by something that another NBC show (SNL) has already said? You’re football fans. Grow thicker skins.

Keith Olbermann is a clown. The play is what it is.. lots of possible fines almost happen each week.
That whole NBC show is brutal. Their comments have always been off color and their cast offers little insight. ESPN has to get this contract back next time its available.

OK, Olbermann couldn’t help himself from introducing politics into this discussion, and I can’t help myself from continuing it. When the Iraq War was starting, the wise among us were saying “this is a horrible mistake that will haunt us for years” and were shouted down as “weak” and “pacifist”, and “naive”. We took it and moved on, knowing we were right.
Now, Republicans can’t take it when we call their comically unqualified candidate unqualified? Puh-leeze. It doesn’t belong on and NFL program. OK. But it is funny, and oh, so true. Moral: don’t want to be mocked? don’t be so mockable.

K.O. should be fired for no other reason than putting politics into a perfectly good football show. With wall to wall politics since the the primaries, maybe we just want to sit and relax and watch a little football. And, by the way, there is about this much difference (holding my thumb and forefinger very very close together) between a democrat and a republican. Just saying. Now, frisbee that coin and lets watch some football!!!

I thought Olbermann was great on ESPN back in the day, I would just prefer we keep our sports separated from our politics.
As to those of you who think Sarah Palin is unintelligent, if you know what a resume is, compare your own to hers. Learn. Grow.
