Amid various uncorroborated and unconfirmed rumors and rumblings emanating from Cincinnati that Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer might need Tommy John surgery, Palmer himself has hinted that the supposedly sore elbow that knocked him out of Sunday’s game against the Browns might not be something that mere rest heals.
The MRI reportedly showed no structural damage. But when Palmer was asked on Sunday whether the images revealed anything he’d deem “scary”, Palmer said: “I’m not going to comment on everything.”
Gulp.
Asked whether it’s a long-term thing, Palmer said, “I hope not.”
Double gulp.
As Paul Daugherty of the Cincinnati Enquirer points out, Palmer didn’t say “I’ll be fine” or anything else suggesting it was a simple matter of allowing soreness to subside. And that’s enough to make Bengals fans worry about whether a season that has started out miserably will turn into a full-blown disaster.

after the Ravens whip the sqealers tonight and take control of the North, it won’t matter what QB is playing within the division. Big Benita’s vacation starts tonight after the Ravens treat him like a cheap Pittsburgh hooker.

Hey Raven Bob what quarterback on the Scavengers current roster has a Super Bowl ring? Yes thats what I thought. Both the Ravens wins have come against mediocre teams. Flacco will be in for a long night.

find a real team and support them.

One thing Cincinnati fans have that Steelers fan do not…. class. But, since we lost to Cleveland yesterday, I am going to take a shot at the Shitsburgh Cheaters.
2009: The Chin (Cowher) will be in Cincinnati, Big Ben will still suck, and “Headhunter” Hines will officially be eligible for his senior citizen discount. Here’s too Willie Parker and another broken leg.
Better start pounding more of those IC Lights boys, cause the rest of us in the AFC North taking control.

We suck, Cleveland Sucks, Squealers suck and unfortunately for us all, the freaking Ravens are gonna win this division!

Everyone was busting on the idea of giving into Chad Johnson’s demands for a trade, but how good does that Washington (1st round 2008, conditional 1st rounder 2009) look now? The season is lost, the ship has sunk, and MARVIN has to GO!

Good to see the Pittsburgh fans got some lead back in their pencils after the drubbing by the Eagles. Can’t wait to wake up Tuesday morning to see if either team scored (doubtful). I predict the most boring game since Wembley stadium.

I got Direct TV so I could watch the Bengals every week and DAMN that was unwatchable yesterday. Every time I flipped over to that game there was either a fumble, an INT or a penalty. Just horrible. Dear Mike Brown, I want my money back.

The city of Cleveland owes the city of Baltimore a huge debt of gratitude. If the clowns had’nt move to Maryland, the city would have never gotten the sweet deal they got on a new stadium and would have gone into bankruptcy, moved anyway. The NFL had such egg on it’s face by not giving Baltimore an expansion team, the city had no other choice but to take a impoverished team. Baltimore saved football in Cleveland.
when the rooney’s go into bankruptcy with estate taxes eventually, the Sqealers will end up in L.A..

I completely agree with you–Carson Palmer has already overcome a devastating knee injury. Isn’t Tommy John surgery essentially just as bad, if not worse? I will have to write him another Get Well Soon note. Bengal, Brown, or Raven, I don’t want to see a rival lose a QB to this kind of injury. Here’s hoping it isn’t THAT serious.

Well-said, CD. While I hate the Bengals, I’d rather continue kicking their butts with all of them on the field. Best of luck to Carson Palmer, by all accounts, a good person and a helluva football player.
As for the other AFC North also-rans (or really just WhoPlaysWhere)…compete year-in and year-out like Pittsburgh, then you can start popping off with your BS predictions.
Pittsburgh’s the only AFC North team to win a playoff game since 2001 (the 01 season, 02 playoffs), so really, you’ve got nuthin’, hate all you want, but neither Baltimore, nor Cincinnati nor Cleveland can hold a candle to the success of the Steelers.
Come up with some more cute/clever (ahem) nicknames, though. Cuz that’s far more entertaining than wishing harm on other players.

Either they were lying about the MRI report, or the Tommy John rumor is bogus. I’d tend to think the latter, because if the MRI showed damage to the ulnar collateral ligament and they knew he’d likely need surgery, there would be no reason to lie and drag it out.
I think someone is trying to sell newspapers (or web hits).
