In the “Something’s Gotta Give” Bowl, the previously 0-3 Browns have beaten the now 0-4 Bengals.
Cleveland won the game, 20-12.
Ryan Fitzpatrick went the distance at quarterback for the Bengals, completing 21 of 35 passes for 156 yards, a touchdown, and three picks.
Fitzpatrick also led the team in rushing, with 41 yards on four tries.
Chad Johnson hauled in his first touchdown pass of the season, which likely will delay for at least a week his inevitable implosion.
For the Bengals, the schedule gets no easier. They travel to Dallas and then to New York for a game against the Jets, before hosting the Steelers. Then, it’s off to Houston followed by a visit from the Jags before the bye week.
We’re not prepared to suggest that the Bengals will go winless, but we’re feeling pretty certain that they won’t generate enough victories to help coach Marvin Lewis to extend his career by another year.

great, another week we have to suffer with crennel. thanks ben-GALS, the two most pathetic excuses for nfl franchises, and both are in ohio. i’ll go on record as saying if you merged the two teams together they still would not have a winning record. these teams and managements SUCK!

You forgot to mention Fitzpatrick also had one fumble that resulted in a game ending turnover.

Full disclosure: I was calling for Brady Quinn to get into the game at halftime.
But kudos to Derek Anderson for coming back and leading two big scoring drives. And kudos to the coaches for sticking with him and letting him throw it, despite no evidence of a turnaround after the first half. Yes, it was against the Bengals…but a W is a W and the second half may give the Browns some momentum moving forward.
We can all relax…for at least one week. Nice to have it come right before the bye. Way to keep fighting Browns. No road win is a small deal in the NFL.

You mean, “then to New Jersey for a game against the Jets.”

It was an ugly victory…very ugly. But for the first time all season, it gives the Browns and their fans something positive to grasp onto, and a small sliver of hope that the preseason expectations can be reached - no matter how small that sliver of hope may be.
And it could not have come at a better time. Enduring two straight weeks of life with an 0-4 record would not have been pleasant for the Browns’ players or coaches. And when Braylon was barking at D.A. on the sidelines, that looked like a very distinct possibility. Now they can enjoy a win, and focus more on improving and getting ready for the G-Men in two weeks than answering questions about being 0-4.

Thanks for nothing. Now we have to suffer the embarrassment of Anderson starting against the Giants on Monday Night Football.
That coin flipping fat man has to go. He decisions are horrible and if anything goes his way its purely by accident.

i’ll take an ugly win over the bungles just cause it is a W going into the BYE. imo there won’t be any BQ anytime soon since putting him in against the g-men would be tough no matter the qb.
GO BROWNS!!!!

Anderson was horrible in this game, just like the past 10 or 11…the Browns will not win many more games if they continue to stick with him…horrible game over all.

Those two first rounders sound pretty good about now. I’m just imagining that Chad would’ve helped out Campbell and Moss just a touch.
Gee, I’m so glad we “stuck it to Chad” and made him play out his contract… that would’ve set a bad precedent. Never mind the precedent we set by re-signing Henry.
Sigh.

Thanks for the win, but seriously, how did DA make it into the game the 2nd half? His QB rating for the 1st half was 18.5! Put his immobile, underthrowing, bad decision making ass on the bench already.

I wish someone would shake the mess out of Mike Brown. Cincinnati management sucks. We will never have a winning team until he relinquishes control to someone who actually knows football.
