Former Rams tailback Marshall Faulk, who played with quarterback Trent Green during Green’s first stint in St. Louis, said on Wednesday’s edition of The Dan Patrick Show that Faulk fears for Green’s safety as the new starting quarterback of the team.
“I would hate to see anything happen to this guy,” Faulk said, in reference to Green’s recent history of serious concussions. Faulk also said that he would not put Green into an NFL game.
Green suffered a nasty blow to the head in Week One of the 2006 season and missed several weeks of action. Green also took a knee to the helmet from Texans defensive tackle Travis Johnson while trying to throw a blind block during a botched play in 2007.
As to the latter, here’s an entertaining rant from a guy with whom Patrick is somewhat acquainted, on a Football Night in America when the rantor (or is it rantee?) wasn’t making like Ferris Bueller.

I agree with Faulk.
I remember when Trent Green was originally drafted by the Chargers. I thought he was a great rookie QB and I thought the Chargers should have kept him. If they had kept him, then I doubt Leaf ever gets drafted by the Chargers.

When I first heard that Trent would be starting, I was happy for him…but fearful for the exact reasons described by Marshall Faulk. I got to know Trent when he was playing at Indiana, and he simply could not be any nicer or more of a first-class individual. I have followed his NFL career closely, and it has been a very successful career…and I just hope that he can go out with a blaze of glory in his latest chance as a starter, and not on a stretcher like he did against the Bills.
The NFL needs more people like Trent Green in starring roles…but there is certainly a part of me wondering if Trent Green really needs the NFL right now, for the sake of his health and his family. Best of luck Trent…and here’s hoping to a healthy last hurrah for a tremendous individual.

dvs1 - care to explain your comment? How does someone wishing his team had kept a really good and successful QB make him a “typical whiny liberal.” Or are you just a typically out-of-touch and nonsensical conservative?

He would rip off 2000 yards easily in the Denver running system

I can’t believe Florio didn’t post the Geathers clip as an excuse to rip on the Bengals…

Trent Green is really a great guy from what I’ve read & seen. But he is one hit away from receiving color books for Christmas.
I hope he stays healthy…..

Travis Johnson, 16th overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft, in his 4th NFL season, and his biggest claim to fame is the phrase “F–k Trent Green.” Thank you Charley Casserly.

Looking forward to Sunday, Marshall.
It’s going to be Trents warfare.
