It’s Tuesday, and that means it’s time for the game reviews from former Broncos G.M. Ted Sundquist.
This week, Sundquist looks at the AFC South battle between the Texans and Titans (OK, it wasn’t much of a battle but you ain’t gonna read the thing if we acknowledge what a bloodbath it was), the NFC tilt between the Bucs and Bears, and the cross-state high-scoring (for a baseball game) affair between the Eagles and the Steelers.
Ted will be back on Friday with his scouting reports for Week Four.

If the Eagles even blitzed half as much against Dallas as they did against Pitt, we are talking about the Eagles as the team to beat in the NFL.

…and T.O. would have 6 TD’s this year.

As someone noted on the Eagles-Steelers review, Sundquist gives McNabb credit for Kolb’s interception. He also gave Ben a sack that Byron took. He forgets to mention that Tony Hunt, the Eagles fullback, left the game with a concussion before Westbrook got hurt, resulting in Buckhalter playing the FB spot when sharing the backfield with Booker. Ted neglected the impact of Booker’s whiff on the block when McNabb got picked. Finally, if Ted’s gonna discuss Berger’s punting, I don’t know why Sav also doesn’t get discussed since the second half turned into a field position game the Eagles won. Maybe I’m nitpicking here Poobah, but the quality of Sundquist’s post made me wonder why it’s even worth it to have him blog if he misses out on such fundamental components of the game.

“If the Eagles even blitzed half as much against Dallas as they did against Pitt…”
…Romo would have had 600 passing yards. Eagirls’ DBs aren’t good enough for Johnson to blitz a good passing team that much. I know, it hurts. Especially after wasting $57 million on a zone coverage guy, but it’s the truth. The Eagles were scared of the matchups that Garrett can create. You think lining Westbrook up as a WR is creative matching? How in hell did Dawkins end up covering TO one-on-one near the goal line? Gotta love Jason Garrett.

As an Eagles’ fan, I can admit that Dallas’ O-line is far better than the Steelers…blitzing Dallas likely wouldn’t have put much additional pressure on Romo and would have left the DBs with much more responsibility. As an Eagles’ fan, I can also say that Dallas has more talent at nearly every position than many teams in the NFL. Their roster is littered with pro-bowlers. But Romo is the most overrated QB in the NFL…period. You put any pedestrian, journeyman QB behind that O-line, handing off to those backs, and throwing to those receivers - he’ll put up the same if not better stats than Romo. So as an Eagles’ fan, that’s why I will be LMAO come January as the Cowboys lose yet another playoff game they are favored to win to make it 13 yrs in a row without a victory.
