The Monday night game between the Chargers and the Jets resulted, as many expected, in San Diego’s first win of the year.
The Chargers put up 48 points on the Jets, who answered with only 29.
But perhaps the bigger news coming out of the game was the hitch in the giddyup of New York quarterback Brett Favre.
Favre was noticeably limping after the game as he walked toward the middle of the field. Sure, he has shrugged off injuries in the past to continue his string of 13,456 straight NFL starts. But he’s older than he’s ever been (aren’t we all?), and sooner or later he won’t be able to recover so quickly from the aches and pains of life in the NFL.

Arena League style!
They criticized Jets for running inside the 5 one play after another? OK, now they’ll do the same for passing from the one yardline, the half yardline, the quarter yardline for the 2 point conversion!

Good article. Are you going to write about every Favre ‘limp’ or grimace? Who cares, he wont miss a start.
I was on the Favre band wagon when he wanted to come back. Now I know I was wrong, so far. First time a Packer QB hasn’t thrown an INT in the first 3 games since 1972. I’ll take my chances with conservative Rodgers over Favre at the moment. Although Aaron is going to have to start forcing sooner or later. Especially with our run offense not being as good as I’d hoped.

Can we get a ruling from the Karma police on this one? Whenever a QB suffers an injury its due to Karma (at least, according to the typical PFT poster *cough* (coco)*cough* )
So was this Karma getting back at MangIdiot for being, well, a MangIdiot and a Rat? Or was this Karma getting back at Farve for the melodrama of the offseason? Or was Karma’s target the Jets fans for being, well, Jetsfans and Farve just got in the way?
I don’t fully understand this Karma thing - its not in the rulebooks but given what I read around here it plays a BIG role in football.

He also looked complacent and tired. He should have had 4 int’s but 2 got dropped. This is why we traded him. He might be regretting his un-un-un-retirement Drama Queen move just about now.

Ah! But you are not talking about the INTs. See, this is how it works in Favre’s NY world these days:
1 INT: Get caught picking nose on TV or similar. If doesn’t work, skip to 4 INT.
2 INT: Limp off field. If doesn’t work, skip to 4 INT.
3 INT: Fight with a coach on sideline; blame it on Ted Thompson flashback. If doesn’t work, skip to 4 INT.
4 INT: Talk about retirement. If doesn’t work, repeat.
INT to lose game: Talk a lot about retirement. Cry.

This trade is a BIG BIG BIG mistake on so many levels. … I’ve seen nothing but bad ahead for Brett Favre and the Jets.
Favre will be 39 this year and in the last game of this season he will re-retire and now the Jets will be set back for 2 yrs with no QB.?
Mangini and the Jets build new look with older faces. The free spending Jets are one of the biggest topics of discussion in the NFL, but there are two sides to every story. While they have generated excitement by acquiring four big money players, some of the team’s returning veterans are looking at the bundles of cash and wondering, “When do I get mine?” NEXT YEAR IS GOING TO BE NASTY FOR MANGINI ! HE BETTER WIN THE SB THIS YEAR, cus next year he will be LOOKING FOR THE QB OF THE FUTURE ! and MORE !!!!!
THEY RE-BUILD FOR ONE YEAR, NOT FOR THE FUTURE.
it’s better to be prepared than smacked by reality.
MANGINI WILL GET SMACKED BY REALITY SOON……..RAT.

Favre will play this week, but he is angling a pretext to retire before the end of the season (or at least sit out,) rather than continue humiliating himself.
That said, he will still come back next year with the BiQueens if he is in any way able to do so, because he is obsessed with his vendetta against Ted Thompson.
MARK IT DOWN!
Favre is insane, now.

Well… O.k.
I understand all the Favre drama and all that, but I don’t really see the Jets being a very good fit for him anyway. That team seems to be held together with bondo and Duct tape. That whole team is just a pile. It’s not just Favre, and a bad place for Favre to be in. Maybe he should just stay injured till he can move on to Minnesota.

Of course, no Packer since 1972 has gone the first 3 games without an INT; because Favre has started since 1972 (or so it seems)
Actually, look at some of the QB’s the packers had in the 70’s & 80’s - Randy Wright, David Whitehurst, John Hadl (at about 98 years of age) and too many long forgotten names too list. It sure must have pissed you off for 16 years to have one of the best and greatest QB’s ever to watch perform every Sunday.
Get real, you don’t last 16 years in this league and have the chance to throw some many passes if you are not great.
Timalex - on reading your post. I am positive your prediction of a packer record in 2008 of 3-13 will not come true. The Packers play the Lions and Vikes twice each. The team is now exposed and lacking depth. The more film the D coaches get around the league of limp-arm AROD the more they will stop that short passing game and it will become the 70’s all over again. But, I am sure you can pull out that leisure suit out of the closet (just like the old days)

travelost,
That conservative play did great against a TJ led Vikings and the lowly Lions, but it will get the Packers nowhere when all they can produce is FGs against the good teams.
No INTs the first three games. Yipee!! The Pack got killed by Dallas at home when Dallas wasn’t playing their best. btw, Romo had an INT in the Red Zone. So did AR have a better game then him because AR didn’t throw an INT? Brady threw no INTs in the SB, but what good did his conservative play do?
